I knew it would come sooner or later, but I didn't expect Danielle to request for me the next day. I sat quietly waiting for her to finish up the paperwork piling her desk. I patch my legs up on the monotoned couch. From the walls to the placid white shelves with matching dressed books, everything seemed strained of color. Mother Clementine always used to say it was a sign of maturing but I personally didn't see the appeal.

"Come sit down." She says shifting in her desk as she straightens her posture, "I'm sure your wondering why you're here."

I sit down, face to face. An indescribable emotion inkling her features. In that moment of silence I knew the money wasn't given to me out of kindness, I was going to have to work for every single penny.

She positions a thin sheet of paper in front of me smiling crisply, it was the one she used every time Nathan was around. Looking around only two of us present in the room I confirm it was directed at me, "So why don't you take a look."

I start surveying it's contents, the word engagement distracting me from her intense glare. My eyebrows shooting up subconsciously I go a few rows back.

"In exception of attaining success the employer agrees to discontinue the Engagement after a period of no longer then six month. Any harm inflicted on said employer will be compensated fairly" I read out loud, re-reading the same part three more times to make sure I wasn't hallucinating.

"And what's this supposed to be?"

Her signature smile still plastered on her face, she slides a slick black pen next to me. "Aren't you so lucky to have the opportunity to compete in the esteemed femme competition."

"W-What? I'm nowhere near ready for marriage! And even if I was, I want to get married to a person I love, or at least know of. Most importantly I would prefer it being my own choice! I know I I took a lot of money from you. But, but you..you can't just expect.."

Her impune cough silencing me I stare at the paled hair demon presented before me, "Are you done?" She questions tapping at the end of the contract. "Its a faulty treatment, it's not real. You'll be tied only in name."

Tied to some pedophilic weirdo? No thanks, I wasn't interested in such things, she could sign somebody else for this. Not me.

"Uh..I'm so sorry. I don't think I'll be able to do that. Working these types of jobs, it's just not me." I apologize, her stark glare stopping me from voicing my opinion.

"Why don't you try reading through the whole thing first."

"I did."

"Did you see the compensation part."

My attention drawn to the bottom of the contract I come to an abrupt stop, my fingers spread across my chest, mostly to control my deslanged heart.

"Uh..Um..t-the, what?" I blabber at a lost for words.

"Yes. You will be paid one million up front, the rest of the three million will be awarded to you only after you finish the job." She elaborates, pressing onto her calculator, "It'll reach well over five million if we add your allowance, housing and other expenses."

"Good god! Are you actually serious?" I ask my throat getting dry, With that amount I could not only restore Beldapa but make it ten times better, I bite my lips, after all I did it was the least I could do for them.

"Sign here and here, and it'll be all yours."

I pick up the pen slowly, she pushes the paper closer to me, her eagerness making me falter.

"You have nothing to worry about. Your identity will be disguised and no one will know a thing. You just have to win the competition, and even if you don't win, you still get the one million upfront."
