Niobe stood next to Tony, not wanting to wander far. She never liked parties, too many people in close quarters. Tony led her to someone he called a close friend who was settled into the party. The man was beautiful, already talking to Thor with a drink in hand.

"This is Rhodey," Tony said.
"I am Niobe," she said. "I am glad to meet you, James."
James nodded at the two new arrivals.
"Tony's said a lot about you in his free time," James said. "Alien, right? Nice to know your name isn't actually E.T."
"I must see this film," Niobe said.
James and Tony laughed before James looked at her with a flat face, shaking his head and muttering 'don't do it.' Tony shouted at his friend playfully, stating the film is a national treasure. The group continued exchanging stories before James launched into a recent incident he swore was hilarious. He was halfway through with the tale when she realized Tony had checked out.
"Well, you know, the suit can take the weight, right? So I take the tank, fly it right up to the General's palace, drop it at his feet, I'm like, "Boom! You looking for this?"...Boom! Are you looking... Why do I even talk to you guys? Everywhere else that story kills," Rhodey said.
Niobe thought over the joke once more before collapsing in laughter. James smiled, gesturing to the Jedi with pride.
"That's the whole story?" Thor asked.
"Yeah, it's a War Machine story," James said.
"Well, it's very good then," Thor said. "It's impressive."
He laughed with Niobe, while Tony simmered.
"Quality save. So, no Pepper? She's not coming?" James asked.
"No," Tony said.
"I cannot wait to meet her," Niobe said.
Niobe could see memories of Pepper in Tony's mind. She was graceful, similar to Padme in strength and beauty.
"She's excited to meet you too, kid," Tony said.
The woman she now knew as Maria Hill announced her presence and nudged Thor.
"Hey, what about Jane? Where are the ladies, gentlemen?" Maria asked.
"Well, Miss Potts has a company to run," Tony said.
Niobe could feel the pride radiating off Tony. She tucked herself into a seat beside Maria.
"Yes, I'm not even sure what country Jane's in. Her work on the convergence has made her the world's foremost astronomer," Thor said.
Maria and Niobe shared a look. The conversation was heading downhill at a rapid pace.
"And the company that Pepper runs is the largest tech conglomerate on earth. It's pretty exciting," Tony said.
"There's even talk of Jane getting a... um, uh... Nobel prize," Thor said.
"Yeah, they...they must be busy because they'd hate missing you guys get together," Maria said. "Testosterone! Oh, excuse me.
"Want a lozenge?" James asked.
"Um-hmm," Maria said.
"Let's go," James said.
James and Maria scurried off. Niobe took this opportunity to escape as well.
