A/N: Hi, don't feel like you need to be a silent reader. I love hearing from everyone. Comment with kindness.

O - O - O

"Obe?"

Niobe's eyes flickered open.

The sun had risen. For a brief moment, she missed New York.

"Have you been meditating all night?" Anakin asked.

Niobe stood, rising from the pillow.

"You know I do not sleep often," she said. "Meditation is more than enough rest."

Awaking shook his head, fighting a smile.

"Shall we?" He asked.

"Where to?"

"The chancellor would like to meet with us," Anakin said. "He has a mission."

"Niobe, this is the job now," he said.

"We are to kill our own?"

"They are not our own," he said. "They are traitors."

Anakin grabbed onto her wrist, tugging her towards the exit.

"You are okay with this?" She asked.

"I defend the republic," Anakin said. "Do you?"

"Yes," she said.

"We fight to protect those who cannot. Our we supposed to abandon them? Watch as Jedi murder those who fight for democracy?"

Niobe shook her head.

"I understand this is difficult," he said. "But you must trust me."

"I do," she said.

"Good, then let's go," he said.

Niobe remained silent during the trip to the Senate building. What if she were to face someone she cared for? What if she had to kill Aayla? As they walked into Palpatine office, Niobe fought the urge to run. There was a darkness swallowing them.

She looked past the disfigured man, staring at passing speeders.

"Good morning," Palpatine said. "I am glad to see you.

"What's the mission?" Anakin said.

"So hurried," Palpatine said. "Are you enjoying being home, Niobe?"
