Harper's POV

I have been staying at the Shadow Moon pack for a month now. At first, things were difficult. Feelings of guilt lingered on my mind. If Leon knew I was here, he would destroy this pack when searching for me. Those thoughts wouldn't leave my mind. They tortured me every single day.

Sky—Aiden's twin sister—often kept me company. She gave me a tour around the pack grounds and helped me unpack my belongings. My room is relatively large and is cosy. It feels like home.

A few pack members are still unsure about my presence. After the ceremony, one pack member approached me and told me I would never be a real member of the Shadow Moon pack. I brushed it off immediately and fired back a snide remark. Sky later told me he is best friends with George—the wolf who attacked me on the way home from work.

To take my mind off my old pack and my brother, I train. Occasionally, Alpha Kaiden stands on the side-lines and watches me. He never says anything to me. He simply watches.

I have sparred with Aiden and Sky a few times. They are both very good, nearly as good as me.

Every time I'm in the training room, George is there. He will always send me a harsh glare. He wants me to be scared of him, but I won't let myself be. The guy is nothing compared to me when fighting.

"What are you thinking about?" Sky asks me, sliding into the seat next to me. I'm currently sat in the pack kitchen, drinking a cup of coffee. It's a large room with lots of space for food and tables. The pack cooks bounce around the kitchen, preparing the dinner.

"Nothing," I reply, taking a sip of my lukewarm drink.

Sky arches an eyebrow and shuffles herself closer to me. The one thing I learnt about this girl is that she is very invasive. I don't think she knows what 'personal space' is.

"I just realized I never asked you this," Sky suddenly says, interest in her tone. "Do you have a mate?"

And there goes my lovely mood.

My face falls and my eyes close off. My whole posture stiffened. Thoughts of Leon and his handsome face invaded my mind. I hate the effect he has on me. I don't want it.

"I don't have one," I reply, icily.

Sky arches an eyebrow, appearing surprised by my response.

"Oh," She blinks.

Silence befalls between us. Sky is somebody who enjoys being around noise whilst I am not so her trying to stay quiet is quite hard. She fidgets in her seat and bites her bottom lip.
