Harper's POV

My brother is alive. My precious, beautiful, innocent brother is alive. He breathes. His heart is pumping. His mind is alive.

There is hope for me again. I have a real purpose. I haven't failed him, not yet. I can still save him. I can make things right again.

As soon as that filthy rogue said those words, I simply knew he was telling the truth for once. There wasn't any deceit in his eyes.

Jackson is alive. He has spent the past two years with the Vulpes—trapped. And because he was alive and imprisoned, it meant I had to go and save him. Which I would do, happily. I want my baby brother back. I want to hold him in my arms again and play games with him. I want to tease him.

After Leon carried me to my room, I spent the rest of the day thinking over what to do. Leon doesn't believe the rogue. He thinks it was some desperate attempt to escape. I know it wasn't though. I can feel it in my gut. I know I'm right.

I can convince him though. If he wants to earn my love, he will go along with me. It's wrong but I am willing to go to great lengths to have my brother back.

Leon appears in my room the next day, with a tray of food. He puts it down on the end of the bed and approaches me with a worried glint in his eyes.

"Harper," He calls, breathlessly. He sounds like a man starved of affection. "I brought you some breakfast."

I continue to stare out of the window, watching pack members training on the field. Kaiden is wondering about the area, barking orders at his pack members.

"Harper, please answer me," He practically begs, sitting on the edge of the bed. I refuse to look at him and get lost in his beautiful eyes. "I know you want to believe Jackson's alive, but he was probably lying, Harper. He wanted to get a reaction out of you."

I shake my head, finally acknowledging him. Leon sighs in relief and shuffles closer to me. His hand brushes against mine, drawing my attention.

"He's alive, Leon," I insist, determinedly.
