Consequences of Boredom

Wei Ying hummed, bored out of his mind. While he definitely loved to read, there was only so much silence that he could take before he was bored and wanted to talk, or move, or do something. This, this was his limit. He was utterly bored, and he and Lan Zhan had been looking for information on dark cultivation for what would seem like ages and he most certainly was not happy having to continue to sit still, stay silent, and abide by the books. He wanted to move. He wanted to do something, and he was beginning to get restless. He knew that he could not do anything, he refused to allow himself to annoy Lan Zhan, it was simply too risky. Besides, he was Lan Zhan's...whatever...To be honest, he was still kind of confused as to what he was when it came to Lan Zhan, he was just happy that he was allowed to be within Lan Zhan's presence. The other was incredibly bright and talented, and even though it sometimes hurt Wei Ying to look at him, the other was a refreshing sense of clarity to the other things which Wei Ying had felt before. Perhaps this was a good thing. He was so used to Wen Ning's presence, which he was fully aware was very different from the presence and aura of the Lan Cultivators, but this was something different.

There was just something different about Lan Zhan. That was what Wei Ying believed. He just...wanted to do something. His restlessness was beginning to be a problem, as he tapped his finger on the table, and hummed under his breath, glancing up at Lan Zhan ever so often. Not that Lan Zhan actually noticed. His Lan Zhan was one hundred percent ingegrated within the books. Something which Wei Ying wished that he was, but his mind just kept drifting. It was not necessarily surprising. Wei  Ying could only deal with so much boredom before he wanted to throttle something. Unfortunately, there was nothing that Wei Ying could throttle within the Cloud Recesses, nor was there anyone that he wanted to throttle. As such he was stuck with one of two things, trying and failing to get through the stack of books that he was currently dealing with, or letting his mind drift to the wiles of his fantasy. Humming, he glanced up at Lan Zhan again, his tapping getting a bit more quick with his increased pace of restlessness.

"Wei Ying." Lan Zhan spoke aloud. Wei Ying floundered, stiffening a little bit. His eyes widened drastically having not expected Lan Zhan to speak up, and he found himself falling slightly backwards, surprised and a bit unnerved. "Read." The other said simply, before continuing his own set of book which were piled besides him.

Wei Ying bit his lower lip, a bit confused as to how the other even really knew that he was not paying attention. Sure he had been a bit restless, perhaps a bit louder then he should have been, but he had tried to at least look like he was actually reading. Either way it did not matter because Lan Zhan had not looked at him once during the entire time that they were stuck within the library. Totally engrossed within his books, or at least he had thought that the other was but clearly that was not entirely the case. How was it that he had figured out that he was not paying attention?

"Lan Zhan." Wei Ying sighed heavily, shoving his head into his hands. "Lan Zhaaan. I am so bored. There is nothing to do. I cannot keep reading. I am already bored. I want to go...go...do something." Lan Zhan did not reply, he did not even look up from his reading at Wei Ying's confession, which was somewhat annoying and Wei Ying huffed. He could not help it, even though he may be nervous with how exactly the other may react, he was just too restless and anxious to really control his behavior as he normally was capable of doing. As such, it was just something that Lan Zhan would have to deal with because Wei Ying was trying his best, mind you, to obey the tons of rules and be a good human and study but now he was annoyed and bored at the same time which was never really a good combination as evidenced with the tapping of his fingernails on the wood of the table.

"Focus." Lan Zhan said simply. Wei Ying groaned. As if it were that easy! He had been focusing, but the reality was, he wanted to DO something. Needed, not wanted. He needed something to do to even really continue this long and...quite interesting Wei Ying would admit...read. He just needed to walk. Just for a little bit. Not for long, even just around the pavilion, but he did not dare do anything without the other's permission. He did not know anyone besides Lan Zhan and SiZhui, and that was all, he did not want to be accused of trespassing or something. Nobody would speak to him if Lan Zhan was around. Or even really question him.
