On the way home

The next day, Ash woke me up early. Linda was awake too.
"Hey go get ready," said Ash. "We're gonna leave for home."
"Oooohh," I said, sitting up and rubbing my eyes. "What time is it?"
It was way dark and I guess it was way before sunrise. I was right.
"It's 5.00 a.m," said Ash. "Come on, quick! We have to leave before six!"
"Fine..." I said, getting out of bed. "Where's the bathroom?"
I must've looked really funny because Ash and Linda started laughing at me.
"Pfft, it's down the hall," said Linda, pointing to the left while smiling. "You better quickly go, before Robbie goes in. I'm gonna go wake him up now."
She left the room while I scrambled for my clothes, towel and toiletries. Ash was sitting there and laughing at me. I ran out of the door, just as Bobby was coming out of his room. I ran into the bathroom and shut the door.
"Hey that ain't fair!" I heard Bobby shout from outside. "I wanted to go first! Urgh...."
"Hah!" I said. "Penelope Wins!"
"Fine..." said Bobby. "I'll wait here..."
"Nah you can just go to the bathroom downstairs," said Linda. "You think this farm only has one bathroom?"
"Oh yeah!" Bobby shouted. "Bobby Wins too!"
I couldn't help laughing at what was going outside. I put my clothes on the sink, together with my towel and glasses. I looked at myself in the mirror before taking off my glasses. My hair was a mess! I started laughing at my own reflection because I looked really funny! After that, I stepped into the shower and took a nice hot shower.
When I went back to the room I shared with Linda and Ash, I started to put on some moisturiser and powder. Ash and Linda were already ready and packed up. Linda didn't have much to pack up, since she didn't actually have many belongings and mostly used Olivia's clothes.
As soon as I was done, we went down for breakfast together. Everyone were ready. So I guess I'm the last one to wake up.
"You took forever, Poppy," mom said. "I think we've been waiting for like hours!"
"Hehe sorry about that..." I said. "I set my alarm, but I don't know what became of it..."
"It rang," said Linda. "It woke all of us. All except you. Seriously, how could you possibly sleep through it?"
"I have no idea," I said. "I actually set my alarm every night, but I still need mom to wake me up..."
"Do you know how loud your alarm was?" Ash asked. "And what made it worse was after it was over, it started again!"
"What song was it anyway?" Linda asked. "It sounded familiar. Very familiar..."
"Snow Castle!" Ash, I and my parents said together.
"It sounds very familiar..." said Linda. "Who's the composer?"
"It's a Tekken song," I said. "It's a fighting game. The song is from the PSP version."
"Oh no wonder it sounded familiar," said Linda. "I used to play that game before in my PSP. It was amazing. I loved it so much, but Rob broke it. Thanks a lot, Rob... I miss my PSP dearly..."
"You can get it repaired," I said, eating my breakfast. "Mine broke too, so I got it repaired and it still works like a charm!"
"They still do repairs for it?" Linda asked, and I nodded. "I think I'll get it repaired, for Robin at least..."
"For me?" Bobby said, surprised. "Yay! Thanks Lindsey!"
"Yeah and for me too," said Linda. "We're sharing it."
"Fine..." said Bobby. "But I don't mind! I'm glad to have you back."
"Awww..." everyone said together.
Soon, we were done with breakfast. We said our goodbyes to the Gardners and promised to stay in touch.
"I can't thank you enough, Mrs Gardner," said Linda. "You took care of me as if you were really my mother. And you, Mr Gardner, you treated me like your own daughter. Olivia, thanks for the clothes. I always wanted to have an older sister, and you really helped that. Oliver, you really reminded me of Robin. I think that's why I felt at home here."
They exchanged goodbyes for a very long time, but we didn't disturb them. We can't blame them for being so attached with Linda.
After that, we finally headed home. Ash came with us in our car while Bobby and Linda went with Ash's parents. We talked on the way in the car.
"I can't believe that you're the Ash," said mom. "When I first saw you, you looked kinda creepy. You fooled me well."
"Hehe sorry about that Mrs Willows..." Ash said, awkwardly. "It was the only way to disguise without being too obvious. But turns out, it was all for nothing."
"Well at least we have a new friend," I said. "Think about it, if it wasn't for that party, we wouldn't be friends with Daniel."
"Yeah that's true too," said dad. "He seems like a good guy. But I've got my eye on him. If he goes back to bullying people, I'll throw him into a volcano!"
"Like what Heihachi did?" I asked. "But yeah he was awful..."
"Anyway, you look completely different without your disguise," Mom said. "Like, with it you looked so... scary, but without it, you look so cheerful!"
"Actually that's the reason I wore that disguise," said Ash. "I didn't wanna look weird, because I'm always either smiling, or laughing at the littlest things. So I wore the disguise so that most of my face is covered, and I can still laugh and smile silently without people noticing."
"I'm guessing you had lots of friends in your previous school," I said. "You're such a friendly person, and I think you're always surrounded with friends."
"Nope," said Ash, shaking her head. "You couldn't be more wrong. I did have one good friend, but that's it. The others always looked at me weirdly for some reason..."
"Why?" Mom asked.
"Because I laugh a lot," said Ash. "And they think I'm weird for some reason..."
"Well that's how it is," said dad. "If someone laughs a lot, they don't like it, and if someone cries a lot they don't like it either..."
"That's very true, Mr Willows," Ash said with a sigh. "Anyway, where are we?"
"We're about five kilometres away from the big service station," said dad. "I think we should stop there for water."
"And fuel too," said mom. "And some snacks."
"Can we stop at the farm again?" Ash asked. "Those meat pies were amazing!"
"I think we should," I agreed. "They were amazing!"
"Fine we will," said dad. "I admit, I feel like eating them too."
The petrol station finally came and we shopped at the service station. Mom went to the snack section and dad went to fuel up. Ash went over to the drinks while I went to the lip balm section.
I realised that they had the limited edition lip balm that I always wanted. I got the peach flavoured one already, and I wanted the mango flavoured one this time. Hmm, but the orange flavoured looked good too. Wait there's berry flavoured too! I'm gonna have a hard time choosing...
I was staring intently at the mixed berry lip balm and the mango one when suddenly someone shook my shoulders.
"Bahhh!" Came the sound, causing me to jump and scream in shock. I turned around to see Ash.
"Oh it's you," I said, holding my chest while breathing heavily. "Why do you always do that?"
"I don't know," said Ash. "Maybe because it's fun to scare you?"
"Yeah right," I said, showing her the lip balms I was holding. "Which one shall I take?"
"Neither," said Ash. "You have too many lip balms!"
"Oh come on," I said, shoving them towards her face. "Which one?"
"Fine..." said Ash. "Take the mango one."
I looked at the lip balms again, deciding which one I should take. Mango sounds good... but it's so yellow! Mixed berry sounds better, and it gives a nice pink tint too. I think I'll take mixed berry flavoured lip balm instead.
"I think I'll take mixed berry," I said, hanging the mango lip balm back on the hook. "Berry gives colour."
"Whatever," said Ash, annoyed. "Come on, lets go to the drinks section."
