Bobby POV
"We need to tell our parents about this," I said. "Come on, Lindsey."
"Yeah let's go," Lindsey said, getting up. "I'll book a car."
"It's alright, I'll drive you," Mrs. White offered. "What about the two of you?"
"Sure our house is on the way," said Penelope. "Ash?"
"Yeah thanks Mrs. White," said Ash. "My house is on the way."
We hopped into her car and she drove us home. We thanked her and got out.
Lindsey and I got out and ran into the house. We saw Uncle Ben sitting on the living room couch as if nothing happened.
"Hey kids!" He said when he saw us. "What's the rush?"
We ignored him and ran to our father's study. He was there, using his computer.
"Dad!" Lindsey said, panting after running all the way. "We have something important to tell you."
"What is it, Lindsey?" Dad asked, looking up from his computer. "You look like you two ran all the way here!"
"We did," I said. "It's really important."
"What is it?" Dad asked again.
"It's uncle Ben," Lindsey said. "It was him!"
"What was him?"
"The guy behind the kidnapping!" I said.
"What makes you think that?"
"We saw it ourselves," Linda explained. "He framed Daniel's dad! We saw the trench coat guy get into Uncle Ben's car!"
"He must be his assistant," I said. "He's the one that Linda saw in front pf her school everyday before she disappeared!"
"Yeah!" Lindsey chimed in. "Anthony saw him too!"
"Whoa whoa wait a minute," said dad. "Who's this trench coat guy that you speak of?"
Lindsey and I groaned. We explained to him about it in detail.
Dad walked out of the study with a stern look on his face. We followed him. He went downstairs and confronted Uncle Ben, who was just seeing his phone.
"Hey Ben," dad said. "I need to talk to you for a moment."
"What is it?" Uncle Ben asked. "Anything serious?"
"I don't like beating around the bush, so I'm just gonna tell you," dad said. "The kids are telling me that you're the one that kidnapped Lindsey. Is it true?"
"What?" Uncle Ben asked in shock. "Why?"
"And they said that you framed Michael White?"
"What the-NO!" Uncle Ben exclaimed. "What made you think that?"
"Well, we saw that trench coat guy get into your car," Lindsey said. "He's the one that framed Mr White!"
"What?!" Uncle Ben said in shock. "Wait, you said that guy in a trench coat?"
"Yes!" Lindsey and I said together.
"He was my client," uncle Ben said. "He booked an online car with me."
"Online car?" We asked in surprise.
"Yep," uncle Ben said with a nod. "I'm a part time driver for the Pickyou app."
"Wait what?" Lindsey asked in confusion. "You're a taxi driver?"
"Yes I am," he said. "It's a easy job, and also versatile. I can do it whenever and wherever I want! So I do it in my free time to earn money instead of just wasting time. Well, I love driving, so I guess it's a good deal."
"See kids," dad said with a smile. "Be like your uncle. I need to get back to work."
He just left us and went back upstairs, leaving us gaping.
"I had nothing to do with whatever it is you were talking about," Uncle Ben said and walked away. "Oh well, I can't blame you either."
He walked off towards the kitchen.
"Rob, to my room, NOW," Lindsey said in a stern voice.
She briskly went up to her room. I knew that I wasn't in any trouble, but I know that she means business.
I went after her to her room where she was waiting for me at the doorway. She slammed the door shut as soon as I entered.
I sat on her bed as she swung around and crossed her arms.
"I don't believe him," Lindsey said, pulling her desk chair towards the bed and sat on it. "He's obviously lying."
"Yeah that was a really ridiculous lie," I said. "Like that's so lame!"
"That's the thing," Lindsey said. "Also, if he really was a Pickyou driver, he wouldn't have taken off as soon as he stepped into the car. Like, think about it. Think about the times that we booked a car from Pickyou. The driver would confirm first and set their GPS or something, right?"
"Yeah," I said, remembering the last time we went in an online car. "So he's definitely lying."
"Yes," Lindsey said in a serious tone. "We need a way to prove ourselves. And I want my revenge! I want him to pay for wasting two years of my life!"
"I'll call the others," I said, taking out my phone. "We need to discuss this."
"Good idea," Lindie said. "We're starting to doubt our own uncle..."
"We have a reason, Lindie," I said. "He doesn't seem to be a good person."
"Yeah," she said, taking her phone out. "I'm gonna call Ash now."
"Conference the others in too," I said. "We can discuss with all of them."
She nodded and called the others. Ash was the first to pick up.
"What is it Linda?" Ash asked, answering the call.
"Wait this is a conference call?" Penelope asked.
"Everyone's here, but where's Bobby?" Daniel's voice came through.
"I'm here," I said. "I'm with Lindsey."
"So what's up? Ash asked.
"Apparently our Uncle Ben was trench coat guy's Pickyou driver," Lindsey said. "Like, how lame of an excuse is that?"
"That makes no sense," Penelope said. "Like, I usually take online cars and I know what they're like."
"Yes because they wouldn't take off as soon as the passenger step in," I added. "The guy took off as soon as trench coat stepped in."
"That and also they have e-hailing stickers on the back and front of the car," said Penelope. "I don't think I saw the sticker on your Uncle Ben's car..."
"Yes I clearly didn't see it on his car," said Daniel. "All I saw was a sticker saying 'Cool Dude On Board' plastered across the rear windscreen of his car."
"Cool Dude?" Lindsey said with a scoff. "More like Crook Dude..."
We laughed at that and continued discussing.
