"Are you ready for your first day of school, Ashley?" Mom asked me as she dropped me off at this new school. "Remember, if anyone asks, don't reveal this secret okay?"
"And keep an eye on Daniel White," said Dad. "His father may have been involved in something sinister."
I nodded and said goodbye before entering the school. So this was my new school. I had to leave my old school behind because my parents wanted me to spy on this Daniel guy. My old school was quite far away too, besides we moved out to this town instead because my parents, who are detectives, were transferred to this town instead. This looked like a much better school, but I really miss my friends!
So I went to my class. It took me a while to find it but I managed to find it. The senior classes were all the way at the back. I entered my new class and saw that there was an empty spot at the back, next to no one. Perfect place for me.
Oh did I mention that I wearing a disguise? I was dressed like an emo girl to cover my face a bit. I mean, no one would usually mind the emo girl in class right?
So I sat behind and took out a pair of earphones and plugged them into my ears. I wasn't really listening to any music but that's enough to keep people from speaking to me. I had my hair all over my face too, and it's long. Like very long. It was bottom length! Well leaving it untied is the best way to cover my face a bit. I must look like a creep to these kids.
And to make stuff worse, I was wearing heavy dark eyeshadow to make myself even more unrecognisable.
I didn't wear my glasses, so a pair of really pale blue contact lenses replaced them. I almost screamed at my own reflection when getting ready for school.
I looked around the classroom and saw that many people were staring at me. They were also whispering something.
That's when I decided to actually turn my music on. Now I couldn't hear what they were saying.
Class started and the teacher made me introduce myself in front of the whole class. I tried not to sound too cheery, because if I do, then my cover is blown.
"Hi my name is Ashley Reynolds," I said in the gloomiest voice that I can muster. "You can call me Ash for short."
Recess came and I had to sit alone. Well no surprise, since I didn't even bother to make friends.
So I decided to just sit alone at the cafeteria with my phone. I decided to search up a good book on Wattpad and found a nice fan fiction story of my favourite video game, Tekken. It was written by someone named Poppythebest.
It was good, save for the small mistakes here and there, but the story was good overall, and long...
So I sat at the corner of the cafeteria, away from the rest and started eating the mac and cheese.
As soon as I got home, mom asked me how my day was at school.
"Not the best, but okay," I said. "I don't really have much friends, and I think some of them may be spreading weird rumours or something."
"Just ignore them, Ashley," said mom. "Do you want me to tell the principal?"
"No no it's okay," I said quickly. "It doesn't really bother me actually, because I'm always wearing earphone in my free time."
"Okay," said mom. "But if they are, don't hesitate to tell me. It would only take a second for me to inform the principal."
"No, mom, I'm positive," I said. "They don't really bother me, I promise!"
"Okay, honey," said mom. "Now I have to go back to work. I only came back to see how you're doing."
She said goodbye and left for work. Now I'm all alone. I just decided to finish my homework and play some video games because I'm bored.
This routine went on for a few more weeks. People never bothered to make friends with me. Well, I never bothered too. There was this one time when I was walking down a hallway to go back to my class when Daniel and his goons decided to pick on me.
"What's up gothy!" I heard one of them call me. "Ever thought of tying your hair."
"Nah I don't think so," said another one of them. "Her hair is like a curtain! It covers her face like those circular shower curtains!"
They continued jeering at me and I had enough. I turned to look at them and gave them a stare. I was about to snap at them, but they just ran away. Huh? I wanted to laugh so badly at this point, but well... disguise...
I went back to class and continued with my lessons. A few other people tried to bully me and I just looked at them and they ran away too. Do I look that scary?
"When I got home, I told these to my parents and they started laughing.
"Oh come on," I said. "Do I really look that intimidating?"
"Well yeah," said dad. "Those contacts are like ice! Why did you want that colour anyway?"
"Well, I always wanted to have blue eyes, or at least an eye colour that's light enough for my pupils to be visible," I said. "But all I got are these really dark ones."
"Oh come on, that's actually almost as rare as having green eyes!" Mom said, comfortingly. "But anyway, you look good in light blue eyes too."
"Yeah and it's keeping the bullies away too," I said. "All I gotta do is stare at them, and off they go!"
Well, I was actually getting used to my new school. It wasn't so bad after all. I still chat with my old friend, and those books on Wattpad by Poppythebest that I'm reading are actually really good. She has written many books too. So I'm actually reading them in class instead of actually making friends. Okay this is bad. Very bad...
And when the teacher wants us to do a group project, I would usually end up the one groupless, resulting in me just joining the group that teacher assign us to. And when we are supposed to do stuff in pairs, urgh! That's even worse! Because I would usually end up doing the stuff alone!
Well at least no one is disturbing me, and that's good enough. Daniel hasn't really been doing anything too. But I'm still following him around, just in case he does anything funny.
A/N: Hey guys! I decided to write this chapter because I never really mentioned what Ash went through in the first few chapters. So this sequel will be a few parts long. I hope you enjoy!
Love,
