VIII EIGHT

BOOGYBASH SPECTACULAR

⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰

HALLOWEEN WAS Ava's favorite holiday of the year, next to Christmas of course. She loved the movies, the costumes, and just the feeling in the air as you walked out on Halloween night. Currently, seated at the local diner of Mystic Falls with her Walkman blasting 'Do Me a Favor' by Artic Monkeys, Ava was finalizing plans for the school dance that was tonight. It was a hectic morning.

Jeremy was on the search for Vicki, and Elena left for Stefan's house, leaving her alone to plan.

"Coffee, please. Three creams, two sugars. Stirred well." A sudden voice said, taking a seat across from her in the booth she was seated in. Ava looks up from her sketchbook, her eyebrows scrunched and her face contorted as she made eye contact with a familiar pair of eyes. "And good morning to you little Miss I'm on-a-mission." Damon greeted the girl. He eyed whatever she was working on.

"What are you doing here?" Ava asked, pausing the song.

"Well as a local citizen of this fine town." Damon started. "I was just walking towards the Grill when I saw you here all by your lonesome and thought I'd give you some company." He said. "And what doesn't say, 'I promise I won't kill you' with a stack of chocolate chip pancakes, which I am craving," Damon added as he called over the waiter to add to his order.

"How can you be so arrogant and glib after everything that you've done?" Ava asked with a glare. "And how can you be so brave and stupid to call a vampire arrogant and glib?" The vampire retorted with a smile as he waited for the waiter. "If you wanted me dead, I'd be dead. Signifying the pancakes." The brunette said. "Yes, you're right," Damon admits. "But I'm not." "Yet." He finished the conversation as the waiter comes over, adding two stacks of chocolate chips pancakes as he set the cup of coffee down.

"You didn't have to." Ava insisted as he ordered for her. "You need to eat. I may be your enemy, doesn't mean I want you to survive on ice coffees and gum." Damon said with a sigh, handing the waiter the two menus. "So we're enemies now?" The brunette asked. Damon stayed silent.  His gaze went to her sketchbook. "What are you even doing?" The raven-haired vampire asked, grabbing a hold of the said sketchbook. Ava tried to reach for it, but Damon was too quick.

"I'm finishing up plans for tonight's Halloween bash." She explained. "The Boogybash Spectacular?" Damon scoffed. "What?" Ava asked. "It's cheesy." "I picked it out." I glared at him. "I would invite you but, you're too old. And you'd probably eat the students as snacks." Ava snarked as Damon snickered. "You're funny," Damon said sarcastically. "And you're bitter." The vampire hummed in response as he sipped on his coffee.
