AVA WOKE UP IN an instant at the sound of a hard door slam. She sat up in bed as she noticed the darkness from the outside. Ava panted as she caught her breath. It was Jeremy. "Another late night out". She thought. As she exited her bedroom, no sound was heard beside her padded feet against the cold wood floor. "Hello?" She called out. No one answered. A dark shadow could be seen.
"Jeremy?"
No answer.
The floorboards of the staircase creaked with each step the Gilbert girl took. The house was quiet, as Jenna, and Elena was asleep. "Hello?" She called out once again into the dark kitchen. She flicked the switch to the lights, but nothing turned on to her dismay.
" 'This is Logan Fell coming to you live from the streets of Mystic Falls with breaking news of another deadly animal attack," a sudden voice said. Ava squinted at the sudden bright light that radiated from the tv. "The wild animal terrorizing the citizens of Mystic Falls has claimed another victim. Local high school student, Ava Gilbert." The picture of the brunette came up on the screen. Ava's eyes widen at the sight.
"Police are certain that forensics evidence will confirm that this is the same animal responsible for recent attacks." "You know what's coming next." A deep voice behind Ava whispered. The sight of the eldest Salvatore brother standing at the doorway frightened her. His eyes seemed to darken. His aurora did not seem right.
She did not hesitate to run.
Ava opened the front door, hoping to escape this utter nightmare, but she was stopped by the blue-eyed figure standing before her once again. "No!" She screamed out. She slammed the door shut, only to see the figure back within the house.
Ava covered her head with her hands, blocking the view of the eldest Salvatore brother. Her breathing steadied as she slowly opened her eyes to see that there was no one there. 'Had I imaged everything?' 'Was I going crazy?' So many questions stirred within her head as she looked around the area she stood.
One step. That was all it took before she felt the strong grip of a man pulling her back from the direction she was going in. Her head was yanked to the side before her screams took over the piercing feeling of teeth sinking into her skin.
That was all it to—
"Scum ball." Jenna rasped out in disgust, causing Ava to break out of her thoughts. The bright morning sun shunned her eyes, causing her to wince at the brightness as she realized she was seated at the kitchen dining table with a bowl of Cheerios in front of her. "Scum bucket," Jenna commented once again.
