IV. FOUR
A FRIENDLY DINNER THEY SAID
⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰
THE MORNING WITHIN THE town of Mystic Falls was quite the usual for Ava Gilbert. The sun shined bright within her room, though she was up before her alarm, and breakfast consisted of just coffee. However, her catching a ride with her sister, and Bonnie was different. Within the car, the conversation would shift, especially when the green eyed Salvatore was brought up. "I'm not saying don't date the guy. I'm just saying take it slow." Ava sent the Bennett girl a questioning look as they exited the car.
"You were the one who said to go for it." Ava points out.
"Now I'm saying take it slow."
"Why the about-face?" Elena questioned her best friend as the three walked along the freshly dew lawn. "It's not an about-face. You're single for the first time in your entire high school career. It's the perfect time to play the field." Bonnie retorts, causing Elena to chuckle out sarcastically. "Oh, because I'm so that girl. Seriously, what are you not saying?" "It's stupid." Bonnie shook her head as she tried to walk it off.
"Bonnie..." Ava trails off. "What?" "Spit it out." The trio stopped in the middle of the field, as Bonnie sighed out in defeat. "I accidentally touched Stefan and got a really bad feeling," she explained. "Is that it?" Elena asked, causing Bonnie to start walking away. "Bonnie." Elena says. "It was bad-bad!" The Bennett girl exclaimed in a whisper.
"Is this the whole witch mojo thing again?" Ava asked curiously. "You know what, I'm just concerned. This is me expressing concern about my best friend's new boyfriend." "And I love you for it, I do," Elena starts off, gently placing her hands upon the Bennett girl's shoulders, "but I feel good. It's been a hard year, and I'm starting to kind of feel like things are getting back to normal again. And you know what, Stefan is a big part of that."

"Good morning, Elena." Stefan greeted the trio, catching them on the front lawn before classes. "Good morning, Ava. Good morning, Bonnie." Ava sensed Bonnie tense up at the sight of the green eyed Salvatore. "Hey, um, I gotta find Caroline. She's not answering her phone. So I'll catch you guys later," Bonnie excused herself, her gaze not meeting theirs. "Bonnie, wait..." Ava tried to reason with the girl, but all she did was walk away without looking towards the group.
"She doesn't like me very much." Stefan stated. "She doesn't know you. She's my best friend, she's just looking out for me. But when she does, she will love you," Elena explains with a smile. Ava glanced at the two, her eyes taking in every little detail. She noticed the glint in Stefan's eyes whenever Elena spoke, she noticed Elena's smile getting bigger and bigger within every second they stood beside Stefan. It was a gift and a curse to Ava, as she noticed these small things.
