One things for sure, a good chicken Pad Thai could easily mend all my problems.
Now obviously, I hadn't seen my apartment before or my new room, but when I walked into the apartment it wasn't much but the same milky cream walls that I had observed in Ashton's apartment, and cherry wood floors, so those must have came with the place, and boxes were still sprawled out all over the floor. We were eating our dinner japanese style, sitting legs criss-crossed on top of pillows two inches above the ground, chopsticks in hand and white takeout cartons in the other, it wasn't Toronto and my glamorous house with a breathtaking veiw, but it was exactly where I wanted to be. Mom and dad were being their usual over bearing selves, and were shocked that I had actually gone out without Sam, or Seth, or even them, and that I Ashley Powers had made some friends, sort of. So of course, as you can probably imagine they were filled with questions.
"So Ashley tell us about you night!"
Mom squealed twirling lomane around her chopstick before shoving in in her mouth.
"It really wasn't anything too crazy I just went to Ashton's apartment and met his sister Amber, basically-they are-really-rich-but-their-parents-are away-and-gave-them-money-for-food-for-the-weekend-but-Amber-and-Ashton-spent-it-all-on-clothes-so-I-invited-them-over-for-dinner-tomorrow-night."
I exclamied forming one huge sentence within seconds my mouth spoke so face, it was like it was in the human race, and I shoved a fork full of Pad Thai into my mouth, to refrain from spirting out anymore words like a leaky faucet.
"You what?"
Sam squealed.
"Invited them for dinner?"
I half stated half questioned with Pad Thai hanging out of my mouth as I forced a nervous smile.
"But Ashley we haven't even had time to arrange the place yet! Look at this place it's a pig-stye."
Dad hollered, waving his chopstick around the apartment like a mad man.
"Oh Brian, it's not that big of a deal, we'll just order in again! I'm sure the neighbors will understand that our place is alittle messy right now considering we haven't even fully moved in yet. It's good for the kids to get to know them. How bad could it be?"
Mom replied.
But see this is were she was wrong. Oh it could be bad, very bad. Let me tell you how this dinner is gonna go. Ashton and Amber are gonna get here all dressed up, while we sport our lounge-around-the-house wear. Next, Ashton and Sam are going to totally hit it off, Sam usually has guys wrapped around her fingertips, and their gonna talk, and soon their won't be any talking, but they'll be may-I-be-excused-to-the-bathroom-breaks, and before you know it Ashton will be in Amber's unfinished bedroom on top of her making out like two hormonal teenagers, and then we'll have to move because Ashton will turn into some creepy stalker that will keep coming back for more, but Sam will have gotten bored and moved onto some new piece of eye candy.
I was doing it again, over-thinking, and letting my mind imagine up these crazy scenarios in my head.
"We have to get this Chinese again. This Pad Thai is amazing!"
Seth stated breaking the silence.
Mom laughed and continued to stuff her face, while Sam rolled her eyes in disgust.
"Seth, chew with your mouth closed, you look like a cow for god sakes!"
Sam snapped, twirling a piece of her hair in between her fingertips, closing her takeout carton, and setting it on the floor in front of her.
I scooped up her empty carton, and collected mine along with Seth, mom, and dad's and brought it to the trash bin beside the fridge.
