chapter twenty-five: kissing you is my favorite thing to do

"Oh, my god... Jamie, I've never won checkers before!" I squealed and jumped up from my place on the carpet as I made my final, winning move.
Jamie and I had been playing various board games for the last two hours, and it was almost concerning that I hadn't gotten bored yet. It kept getting more entertaining, somehow.
"I don't think I've ever lost a game of checkers... did you cheat, Bosley? I don't trust you."
"Hey!" I pouted, crossing my arms.
"Sorry... I'm a sore loser. You were good competition. I'm proud of you." I raised an eyebrow at him as he tried to make up for his accusation and he smiled as he grabbed my hand with his. "Really, I'm happy for you."
"Sure," I said, playfully rolling my eyes at him as I tried to take my hand away. He only tightened his grip and eventually pulled me down, which caused me to laugh. I practically landed on top of him, but I wasn't upset about it.
"What do you wanna do now?" Jamie asked me, wrapping his arms around me as he pressed me into his chest. Our size difference made me laugh; I wasn't short or all that thin, but Jamie's height and broadness made me feel small in comparison to him.
"We could take a movie break," I suggested, with a shrug of my shoulders. "I kind of just want to cuddle," I whispered the last part and watched as a smile grew on Jamie's face.
"You're so cute." He kissed my cheek after nodding his head to indicate he was accepting my movie idea. We both got up off the floor, and Jamie asked me if I wanted to stay downstairs or if I wanted to go up to his room. I decided that laying on the couch was fine with me, and he seemed slightly bummed by my answer. Jamie collapsed onto the couch, taking up all the space, and closed his eyes.
"Jamie," I pouted, trying to push him to move. He didn't budge and I laughed quietly as I continued trying. "Jamison, I will sit on you."
"No you won't," he mumbled, a small smirk playing on his lips. Without any hesitation, I laid on Jamie and annoyingly moved around to get comfortable. He began to laugh; I realized I had made a mistake as he placed his hands on my sides and started to tickle me.
"Stop!" I shrieked and started to fight him, but he had a firm
hold on me. I wiggled around in his arms and eventually we somehow fell off of the couch and onto the carpeted floor. "I am going to murder you, Jamison Burnside." Jamie started to laugh so hard that he lost his strength over me, and I straddled his waist as I took his hands in mine and forced them down to the ground; all the while, Jamie was still giggling. "You're evil.""Nuh-uh," he said, shaking his head as he continued to laugh. He looked up at me with a dumb smile, and I couldn't help but smile back. "Can I have a kiss?"
"No, I'm mad at you." I shook my head at him, but a smile was still evident on my face. He started to try and lift his arms, but I pressed down harder to keep them against the floor.
"You think you're tough, huh?" Jamie asked me and I shrugged my shoulders, not having it in me to disagree. "You're sure about that, cutie?"
"Don't you patronize me," I warned, causing Jamie to giggle. In a swift motion, Jamie had gotten the upper hand and rolled us over so that he was loosely straddling my waist. "Damn it."
"I caught you off guard, that's all. I'm not nearly as strong as you." I rolled my eyes at Jamie's words and he continued to smile. I started to reach for Jamie's face, but he grabbed my wrists and restrained them.
