chapter five: full of surprises
ALREADY UPDATING AGAIN !!!! whO AM I ?????
( ok also i have never in my life had a trigger warning for a chapter ......... and saying trigger warning could be incredibly unnecessary bc i am incredibly unaware of many things such as trigger warnings buuuuuuut i would rather warn ppl than potentially upset someone. there is no graphic content of any kind in this chapter, just a very very vague retelling of something ...... i am quickly realizing i have no idea how to give a trigger warning w/out explaining what is going to happen ?????? basically: nothing graphic or incredibly deeply discussed of a trauma BUT i know if i were to read this chapter as just a reader it would very much so remind me of a personal trauma .......
good god i don't know what i'm doing: there is just talk of a car crash and it's really brief and not at all graphic. that's it. okay. sorry for literally being inept ??? ok. enjoy. )
Saturday, December 9. 6:24 PM.
"You're kidding, right?" I shook my head vigorously as Rowan looked at me in disbelief after telling her about my talk with Will. "Then he's up to something... right? He has to be."
"That's just it! He's not up to anything, he actually feels sorry for being on my case all the time." Rowan was leaning her back against the headboard of my bed, her hands on her cheeks as she stayed in her state of shock.
"Have you talked to Burns?" Rowan asked and I couldn't help but to scrunch my nose at the nickname.
"Call him Jamie, will you?" Rowan laughed quietly, but promised she would. "I've been talking to him all day... he wants to see me."
"Elle!" Rowan said, lunging forward and grabbing my arm. "What did he say?"
"Well, for awhile we were just talking back and forth... about ourselves, you know? And then he asked if he could see me again... soon. He wants to go out... on a date."
"But what if someone sees you?" Rowan asked and I bit my lip gently, having had the same fear. "I know Will said he'll do his best to keep his mouth shut if he figures out who it is, but... Vales will murder him."
"We talked about it," I told Rowan, meaning that I had reminded him of who my brother was, and who my brother's best friend was. "He asked if I would just want to come over and do something at his house."
"What did you say?"
"Well, my first thought was hell no! I mean, I'm not just gonna go over to his house to get coaxed into something... but then he told me that he's babysitting his younger sister today and that I could come over and help out, if I wanted to."
"He's got a younger sister?" Rowan asked, placing her hands over her heart as she tried not to squeal out of adoration.
"She's seven," I told Rowan, nodding my head.
"Wait, did you say today?" Rowan asked, suddenly recalling the timeline of my words.
"Yeah, but I told him that you were already coming over—"
"Ellie! You have to go!" My eyebrows furrowed at Rowan's exclamation. "Text him right now."
"Ro, what are you talking about? We haven't missed a Saturday movie night in—"
"Eloise, do you know how many Saturday's we have for the remainder of our lives?" I laughed quietly at her words, but realized that she was serious about me going. "I'll drop you off."
"Are you sure?" I asked her, not wanting to leave her alone for the night.
"Of course I am," she said, nodding as she smiled widely. "I can go see Andy."
