We came back from London a few weeks later and Nick pretended he was okay.. I knew him better to know that he was feeling nostalgic..

The day after settling back in, Nick and Joe came to the house with Denise since she was still helping Mrs. Gomez..

Mrs. Gomez never was the same again.. she was a much more lonely person after losing Selena and I couldn't blame her.. she lost her child..

I walked downstairs and saw the two boys on the couch watching soccer. The computer was connected to the TV and it was playing an European channel

I sat on the other small couch with a bag of popcorn. I watched the players run after a ball until a guy scored and both of them stood up yelling "Yes!!"

I laughed at how ridiculous the two guys were - It's just a game..

- Never say that! - Nick said glued to the TV

- It's a life style - Joe continued as hypnotized as he was

I shook my head and my phone started ringing. Needless to say that both of them started yelling at me

I walked out of the living room into the kitchen and answered

- Demi here..

- Hey D! It's Fran.. You're cool for an afternoon?

Fran and I have become really close to each other.. ever since Selena died, she has been helping me and we've kinda became best friends

- Of course.. come to my house

- I'm like.. outside

I laughed and walked towards my front door and waved at her when she walked towards me

- Hey Dee!!

I smiled and hugged the little girl that had the same age as I did

We walked inside laughing and we stopped looking at the crazy guys high fiving each other

- Hi Nick.. Hi Joe - Fran shouted

They both said "Hi" not bothering to look back and we chuckled..

We had fun together upstairs in mine and Selena's room just talking... by the middle of the afternoon, we were now doing absolutely nothing but listening to music when Joe knocked

He walked inside with Nick next to him and both threw themselves to the floor..

We all started talking.. me on the bed looking down at my three best friends while playing on Nick's curls who was sitting on the ground against the bed laughing at the joke Joe did.

Joe was laughing with Nick while laying down and Fran was laughing her ass off with the stupid joke Joe said

I chuckled along and my door opened again

- DEMIIII!! - I heard little Frankie yell

He jumped to the bed and I catched him - Hey there buddy

He started kissing my cheek and I tickled him laughing

He was by far the coolest kid I've ever seen.. I couldn't handle the cuteness

He then joined Fran on the floor with his head on her belly

We continued talking and joking.. it was one of the best afternoons ever..

That.. until my mom came..

Denise shouted for us to come downstairs so we all went and there stood my mom, a guy and a small little girl

- Demi.. - she smiled and hugged me

I hugged her back and then let go - What's going on?

She smiled - I want you to meet your family.. - she said turning around - This is Eddie.. your.. father

He smiled and I smiled and then she pushed the little girl - and this is little Maddie

She cleared her throat and I leaned down - Hi..

- Hi Demi..

I smiled at her and she smiled back throwing her arms around me.. minutes later, my mom hugged us and then Eddie came too..

The tears started streaming down my face as the last wish I wanted finally became true..

A family..

Me and Maddie joined with Frankie, Fran, Joe and Nick walked outside and started bonding

We were all playing a funny game and laughing.. that, until Joe went to pick a basketball ball

I ran to Nick - I'm on his team..

- Why do you hate me? - Joe joked

I laughed - He's just a better player

Nick wrapped his arm around my waist and then Maddie came running - I'm with Demi!!

I laughed since Frankie came and grabbed one of my legs - No.. she's mine

- Everybody loves me - Joe sarcastically remarked

- That makes two of us - Fran joined leaning her arm on his shoulder

We ended up with Frankie on our team since he made a dramatic scene and then changed teams

When we got back inside, my mom, Mrs. Gomez and Denise pulled me aside and started talking

- Demi we were thinking and, since your dad is in jail now, you.. you have to choose - Denise started and wrapped her arm around my shoulders

I looked at her - choose?

She nodded and rubbed my shoulder - Yes sweetie.. your mom in Dallas or my sister here in New York..

My smile faded.. how could I say no to my family? how could I say goodbye when I just met them?

- Don't worry.. take your time.. - my mom said when she saw my eyes water

How could I say no to one of the most important things in my life?

I turned my head towards him and saw his face turning red too..

I couldn't get away without a broken heart... it's a lose-lose situation..
