Summery: how do tony and Bucky end up bonding over nightmares and anxiety attacks?

————

His mind raced at a million miles an hour.

Images flashed across his mind, the trauma he thought he had overcome. The pain, the water, the cold. It was still haunting him- to the pint where he couldn't shut his eyes, for that would only make them more vivid and real. They were the worst moments of his life, and moments he never wanted to be reminded of again.

However the universe wanted to remind him of his failures once again, and although he had tried everything he could to become a better man- the world still wanted to see him suffer. Maybe it was to prove to him that he wasn't as confident as he always made out to be- to remind him he weak. Pathetic.

His hands trembled as he reached for the bedroom door. There was no way he could stay in the darkness a second longer if he didn't want to have another serious panic attack. Shaking, he walked forward and grabbed the handle to steady his quivering hand .

He tried to even put his breathing, not wanting to walk out with tears falling down his face- that is not how he wanted the team to see him.

Weak.

Pathetic

Useless

He bolted up in his sleep, ripping away the covers to find his body dripping in sweat. His breathing was wavering. He ran a shaking hand through his damp hair. His body shook from the cold, after his body temperature was so much higher than it usually was.

The dark made everything worse.

It brought back the memories- ones which he knew he could never forget because he owed those people- so many people their memory. He worried- if he forgot them, then they would have died in vein, and would forever be forgotten by the word. Let down one last time.

He tried to pull himself together Bedoe he left the room. Despite the safety and some what comfort the 4 walls around him gifted him- he needed light, and more room to think.

After taking a few more deep breaths, he stood and threw on a white T-shirt over his sweats and headed out.

His first idea was to go to the kitchen and get a glass of water before settling down On the balcony- and relax while watching the sun rise... but then he heard the heart breaking sounds of tiny whimpers and sobs.

He quickly looked around the living room. The only light was from the sun as it just manger to peek over the many  buildings in the city along side the tower, but it still wasn't enough to find the person in need.

After another quick glance around, he saw them.

The figure was curled up in he corner, with their back to the wall, their knees pulled up it their chest, their face hidden in them. They were wearing a black hoody, with the hood up, covering their face. Their sniffles and silent whimpers fell upon Bucky and instantly shattered his heart. He didn't walk it from the protection of the shadows, afraid that they would be alarmed and run off- he didn't ant them to be alone right now. He didn't ant to be alone.

Quietly, and slowly he crept forward. And slowly, he slide down the wall to sit next to his team mate.

The light from the window behind them both illuminated the figures AC-DC shirt, and his shaggy brunette hair falling in front of his tear stained eyes. They were silent, the only noise that could be heard was the unsteady breathing from the other male.
