Chapter Two - Another day at the hospital.
We arrived at the hospital ten minutes late, seeing how it was traffic and Joanna was actually going as fast as he could.Joanna followed me to the third floor, which was where all the cancer patients were and plus other patients that had some kind of sickness.
I went into my usual room– being greeted by Jean, who was a nurse and also Rivera's assistant.
“Ava, you're late” Jean looked at her watch, as she put a few books inside a drawer near the bed.
“Sorry it's my fault” Joanna apologize.
“No need to apologize, I'll just tell Dr. Douglas that you arrived” Jean said as she left us alone.
“I guess I'll leave you and your girlfriend alone” Joanna teased with a toothy grin on his face.
“Shut it!” I punched his arm playfully, blushing hard.
“Ouch” Joanna rubbed the arm that I punched, which I knew he was just playing around– because I didn't even hit him that hard.
I went to go sit down on the bed.
“See you later A” Joanna ruffled up my hair, but when he was about to exit the room.
Rivera came inside with Jean by her side and once I saw her, looking all professional and gorgeous as ever– it honestly felt like my heart stopped– no matter how much I see her. She still has the same effect on me.
“It's nice to see you again Joanna” Rivera greeted “And also you Ava” She gave me a warm smile, which was enough to make me blush and hopefully it's not noticeable.
“You too” Joanna bowed his head for respect “And I'll just leave Ava here to your care as always” He sneaked a wink at me “Call me if you need to get picked up” He told me and then left.
“Okay, before we start to give you your dose of chemo. Let's start by answering the usual questions” Rivera said, as she sat on the vacant chair that was across from me, holding her clipboard that was attached to a pen.
“First and foremost, how are you feeling today?” Rivera asked with a smile, resting the clipboard on her lap, as she folding her hands together.
“Good I guess” I said, not to sure how I should feel “Me and Joanna had some fun at the arcade today” I told her with a slight smile on my face.
“That's good, at least you're having fun” I saw her write a little something on the paper before looking back up at me “How about your appetite?” She asked.
“Still the same. I'm not always that hungry, but I did eat today though”.
“That's normal. It's the chemo that's making you lose your appetite, but continue to try and eat something” I just nodded, as I waited for the next question– even if most of these were the same as when I always come here, but I know it's just protocol and she needs to know these kinds of stuff, obviously.
Rivera continued to ask me questions and I just would give a simple response or the same responses I would give her before.
