[Chapter 5]

Hi there readers! (I know. There's only a few.) Here's the next chapter!

*Reyna's pov*
  I woke up early today. Aurum was on guard. I petted my dogs, fed them (What do they eat? Lubricant?), and went into the bathroom to get a quick shower. When I was ready, it was time for breakfast.

  "Attention please." Chiron said. "We have to deliver something to the Empire State Building. Is there any volunteers? Two would be good."

Nobody was eager to go. I raised my hand.

"Are you sure? We have no schedule today! You'll miss all the fun!" Dakota said.

  I asked Chiron if I could visit Olympus, and he nodded. I have never been to Olympus, so that was enough motivation for me.

"Okay. Praetor Reyna is going. Who else volunteers to go? No? Than the last one to come here shall go." That was clever. Everyone ran to alert their siblings and friends who were still sleeping. Soon, two whole camps gathered. Jason came from the Hades cabin.

"Nico volunteers to go!"

  That meant either 1)Nico didn't want to play with people today or 2)Nico wants to have a nice chat with the gods. I think it's the first one.

  Nico walked towards the Hades table. 

"What am I delivering for the gods?" He asked Chiron.

"Actually, it's for the person who works in front of the elevator. Visiting the Olympus is a choice. Also, "What are we delivering" is the right term. You are going with praetor Reyna."

"When are we leaving?"

"I recommend leaving as soon as possible. The sooner you come back, the more free time you will have."

  He went straight back into his cabin. He would need to eat something to go. I gave my offering to my mother and ate some scrambled eggs and bacon. (I don't know what Reyna likes, so I just wrote what I ate today.) After that, I went to get ready for the quest. I reluctantly took off my armor, so that I could blend in with the mortals. What we need to deliver was a small box the size of a plastic cup. I got some ambrosia and nectar from the Apollo cabin in case someone got hurt, chocolate bars, a notepad and a pen(who knows? You might need it! A pen is also good for stabbing someone's eye.), an extra dagger into my satchel. I turned my javelin into a dagger and put it under my left sleeve. (In case someone dangerous shakes your hand.) I also hid a few daggers in my pocket, in by boots, and almost everywhere. When I arrived at Thalia's pine tree, Nico was already there.

"How long did you wait?"

"A few seconds."

"Are we going to shadow travel?"

"I guess so"

"Isn't it dangerous?"

  At the next second, we were shadow traveling. The shadows talked to me, to let go of Nico, but I knew that better than to listen to them.

'Huh?' I thought. 'We should be out by now. There must be a problem with Nico.'

  The shadows were talking to Nico.

  Won't you just come with us? You could give all the control to us and rest peacefully. Even if you die while coming to us, you would go to Elysium, or get reborn or go to fields of Asphodel. You won't remember anything of your life. Don't you just want to forget about your life? You are always rejected. Nobody wants you. Nobody loves you. What are you going to do if you live?

   He hesitated.

'Oh no.' I gave Nico more of my strength, hoping it would work.

He seemed to realize that that going with the shadows is a bad choice, and we appeared at a park.

  I saw a gigantic skyscraper nearby. 'That must be the Empire State Building.'

  Nico lay on the ground, half-transparent. I fed him some nectar. He didn't eat anything today. The shadow travel must have drained his energy. I looked at my watch. We spent only 1 minute in the shadows, which was surprising because it felt like an hour. I was thinking about what the shadows told Nico.

'He could go just fine across America. Why didn't he resist the voices this time? Forget about his life? Nobody loves and wants him? Doesn't he have his sister Hazel and the seven? Isn't the camp thanking him for bringing the Athena Parthenos? Doesn't Will... Oh! Will. He had a crush on him. But does he want to forget about his life just because his crush is dating someone else?'

"Reyna?"

"Ahh!"

I accidentally pointed one of my daggers to the person who surprised me, Nico.

"Sorry Nico. It's just my reflexes."

"How long did I pass out?"

"5 minutes. You need to eat before you use your powers. Have some chocolate bars."

"Uhhhhh... Are you going to lower your dagger now?"

  Oops, I had my dagger pointed to his neck through the whole conversation.
I tossed him a chocolate bar and sat down a nearby bench.

"Why did you want to forget about camp?"

*Nico's pov*
  The shadows were talking to me.
Won't you just come with us? You could give all the control to us and rest peacefully. Even if you die while coming to us, you would go to Elysium, or get reborn or go to fields of Asphodel. You won't remember anything of your life.
Don't you just want to forget about your life?

'I won't remember anything about life. I won't remember anyone who mocked me. All my embarrassing moments and all my fears.' That sounded like a good option at the moment.

You are always rejected. Nobody wants you. Nobody loves you. What are you going to do if you live?

  When I was considering about that offer when some kind of energy filled my body. It showed me my memory, me and Bianca playing tag when we were younger. It showed me introducing Hazel to a burger, Percy giving me a piece of his birthday cake, Reyna embracing me saying that we have two homes, and all the things that I don't want to forget.
  Soon, we arrived at a park near the Empire State building. After using my power without eating anything and staying in the shadow for too long, I blacked out.
  The next thing I remember is waking up under a tree in a park next to Reyna deep in thought.

"Reyna?"

"Ahh!"

Reyna turned around, pointing a dagger towards me.

"Sorry Nico. It's just my reflexes."

"How long did I pass out?"

"5 minutes. You need to eat before you use your powers. Have some chocolate bars."

"Uhhhhh... Are you going to lower your dagger now?"

It looked like she didn't realize that her dagger was still an inch apart from my neck. She gave me a chocolate bar from her bag. Then, she sat on a bench next to the tree she was leaning on.

"Why did you want to forget about camp?"

  I realized that she said 'did' instead of 'do'. That meant that she thought that he no longer wants to forget. I was kind of grateful.

'Yet, I am a coward.' I thought. 'I did't have enough courage to tell other campers about it. I let myself get humiliated by Cupid. Also I-'

"Nico" I looked at Reyna who stopped my thought.

"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. I just want to say that the entire legion is grateful for what you did that others would not have done. You played a crucial role to bring back peace to both camps by dragging the Athena Parthenos across the country. You did a job that all of us couldn't. Now let's go. The building is right there. What could possibly go wrong?"

  Well... Everything can. Muahahaha!
