A small smile playing in his lips, he took off his glasses and threw on a pair of sweatpants and a shirt, his eyes quickly adapting to the lack of lense though the thing he saw were still a little fuzzy.

He trotted down the stairs, joining his father who was waiting for him downstairs.

It was a routine for the family.

Jimin would stay late at school to finish his homework, coming home at around six after taking a short bus ride. He'd change his clothes and joined his father in his gym, warming up before getting his daily lesson.

His mother would come home a little later, around seven, they would eat and discuss their days over the meal, before all regrouping in the living room to either mind their own business or play monopoly.

After a quick warm up, Jimin's father started their daily session.

"So Jimin, what i want you to remember," Jimin's father said, taking his classical serious monologue voice. "that the most important part about being strong, is knowing that others are weak."

Jimin nodded, though he knew the sentence by heart by now, it being repeated by his father before every single training session since he was around thirteen.

"What does that mean Jimin?" He asked, eyes as calm as usual as he stared through Jimin's orbs confidently, the teen holding the eye contact.

"It means that i am stronger than others, not only physically but also mentally. It means that i should use my advantages wisely and not hurt the weak, as they have no chance against someone as strong as i am." Jimin said. "It means that i should know my strengths but stay humble, as i'm not the only strong person alive, therefore i am weak in someone else's eyes."

The father looked at his son proudly, not holding back a pat on his shoulder to encourage his words.

"You've learned, Jimin." he said softly. "I'm proud of you."

Jimin nodded, a smile forming on his lips as his heart swelled very slightly.

His father had always been kind to him (and everyone for that matter), and was one of his biggests role models. He always expressed his love for the people around him, completely devoid of any toxic masculinity, and was probably one of the most calm and wise people he knew.

The man had taught him self control, and self awareness as well as respect for others and himself. Qualities he wouldn't have survived much longer without.

"Now, let's begin." Park Jaesung clapped in his calloused hands and took a few steps back.

Jimin nodded.

"You must first fight with you brain, Jimin-ah. Don't randomly display what you can do by throwing meaningless punches. You must first be able to assure your safety, then neutralize the threat. You will not harm him in any way, unless it is to not be harmed yourself. Understood?"

Jimin nodded again.

"Now then Jimin, Remember, i am stronger than you, but that doesn't mean you can't outsmart me."

"Are you going all out." Jimin asked, cracking each of his knuckles in a swift move and taking some steps backwards as well.

"Yes, my intention right now is to fuck you up." Jaesung said.

Jimin swallowed thickly.

His father was the strongest fighter he knew, and would certainly not hold back against his son. On the contrary, he would go harder than with any of his students, and would probably end up injuring him if he really wanted to.

"Remember, this is street style fighting, there are no rules, i have nothing else to teach you in any other discipline." His father said, starting to jump lightly on his feet and garde his face with his fists. "And there is no pity either."

Jimin nodded, taking a deep breath.

Soon enough his father came launching at him, throwing a quick punch to Jimin's face.

The boy quickly brought his forearm to shield himself, using his opposite knee to attack his father's ribcage.

Jaesung took the hit, but quickly swung his leg to knock out Jimin's other leg, the boy losing his balance slightly, feeling his body to lean backwards.

His father pushed him to fall, but Jimin took ahold of his kimono and used his force to rotate their bodies and make Jaesung fall under him.

He locked the man's arms using his legs and brought both of his hands to his father's neck, pushing both of his thumbs into the other's neck.

"Do you give up?" Jimin asked, out of breath.

His father seemed to have a hard time breathing, but didn't answer nonetheless, quickly moving both of his hands to grab Jimin's wrists, twisting one of his arms making Jimin yelp in pain and fall to his side, Jaesung immediately taking the chance to take the upper hand and sitting on Jimin's lower stomach, throwing punches at his face.

Jimin dodged and blocked most of them, though one did land on the very side of his mouth and another under his jaw. The boy making sure to tuck his tongue far into his mouth as to not cut it with the movements of his teeth clashing against each other.

He could see his father's pattern, not hitting too hard or at the wrong places as to not damage his son's health permanently or cause major injuries. He quickly caught a punch destabilising his father with surprise before snapping his nips to the side to make him lose his balance, quickly getting up and using the opportunity of his father's back facing him to head lock him in a tight hold, not leaving him any way to escape.

Jaesung quickly tapped his son's arm, not without struggling for a few seconds, the younger immediately letting go of him and sighing.

Jimin let his back fall on the floor, feeling the sweat that started to form on his forehead and the metallique taste of blood coming from his busted lip.

"I'm sorry." His father said, as breathless as Jimin.

The boy opened his eyes to see his father handing him a helping hand. He took it without hesitation and was pulled back to his feet.

"You did well, son." He assured, wrapping him in a loose hug with one arm and tapping his back gently a few times.

Jimin nodded.

"No injuries?" His father asked, eyes looking deeply into his son's with something that could vaguely be described as "strict gentlessness".

Jimin shook his head, trying to get his regular breathing back.

"Good, let's continue then."
