The sun began to set throughout California-specifically the town you lived in, Los Angeles. The light in the city streets dimmed as you swiftly walked down the sidewalks that were led by them. You watched your feet take one step, to another, and another as you strolled on back to your apartment. The streets were bustling with cars- honking from left to right, as well as taxis attempting to park along the curb for passengers. An average Friday evening, don't you think.

You find the entrance to your apartment building, walking into it. The fresh of laundry detergent filling your senses- as your neighbors' laundry was pungent, so... so... pungent. Your eyes began to water from the stench in the lobby. Maybe next time- they should close the door to the laundry room instead of leaving it wide open. Might help your buddy out. You sigh as you stroll up the stairs. The elevator was always broken, somehow. Why not get a workout! The cement steps clash with your shoes, echoing the noise every time you take a step.

You finally get up to the third floor, your apartment floor. As you walk down the thinly carpeted hall, you fumble through your backpack for your keys. Impeccable timing! As you were heading towards the front door- you eventually grasped onto the keys deep down in the crevasses of your backpack.

As you unlock the door, you hear a brief thud inside the apartment. You open the door to find a mess of boxes, and one of your roommates, Ethan, sitting on the ground. "Uh-" You look at him with a smirk. "What are you doing Ethan?" You question after a short pause. "I'm looking for my pet cactus!" He exclaimed. We had just moved in here, and now it's time to unpack all of our things. A few months back, he had bought a little succulent cactus, and now he can't find it?

"Ethan, it's gonna be fine. We can find Sir. Colonel Cactus together." You giggled. He signed in agreement and hope. As you searched through the 10s of boxes in the living room, you finally see a small plant at the bottom of a box. You grin, glancing at Ethan as he continued to empty out the boxes carefully. "Found him" You wink, holding up the small cactus. "Yes! Finally." Ethan smiled. "Thank you, ﹍﹍" He waddled on his knees towards your direction, giving you a nice hug. "No problem" Your breath hitched at the tight squeeze. He was right, it took a long while. The sun was almost completely set. The moon coming up, glistening through the window.

A/N: Salutations! I am deeply sorry for the short chapter. This is just to start off this short story. I hope you find that this story will be resembling the soft side of Mark's Characters in his videos, as well as the individuals outside of it (Ethan, and some others).
