This was someone you've faced in the past.. maybe middle school? "Jack?" You stutter. Your heart dropped, watching his eyes gaze at yours in pain and sorrow. His face adhered to your mind. You know who this man was, you knew what has happened between you to. Not middle school friends- high school. Summer of 2018, you both dated. It was the best relationship you have ever had in your life, but it was let go. You felt the urge to sob on the pavement beneath you- but you stood strong.
You pushed by him, recklessly pressing against his shoulder as you did. Once you sped away from him- you heard a brief yelp of your name, but no response. It went in one ear and out of the other. It was the sadness that you remembered the most, the absolute anguish you've been through. It was awful, and you remember all of it. The love of your life, choosing to leave you for someone else. He cheated on you coldblooded, and you found out through your friend- Ethan. Ethan was the one there for you when you needed him. He was always there for you, but Jack wasn't. Jack was never the one for you- you soon realized.
Jack had never told you, as he soon realized you finally found out. A scene spilled into your head;
You were walking through the halls of the high school, your two close friends Ethan and Tyler behind you. Bearing back your tears, you finally spot Jack, leaning against the locker and talking to a new girl- Jess. Jess looked at you, her eyes widening. She could see your rage and grief. She nudged Jack, pushing him out of his deep stare into space. He finds you a few feet away from him- a small circle of teenagers circling the five people, some holding out phones- recording on their iPhone 6s, or whatever phone was once popular then.
"What the fuck!" You cry out, trying to find the right sentence to fill your rage into his mind. "You would.. do that to me?" You tilt your head, trying to find a hint of sympathy on his face. There was nothing but guilt. Guilt and regret of his actions that he had committed to. "I-" He stuttered out, looking around at everyone. The crowd was growing. "You chose to cheat on someone that LOVED you, Jack" You choked on your own words. It was unbearable. "I didn't mean to-" He muttered. "Didn't mean to what, Jack. You didn't mean to what? Cheat on me?" You snapped.
He was speechless. He knew what he did was wrong, looking for some reassurance from Ethan and Tyler, as they stood quietly behind you. They had blank faces, some disappointed sighs. There were murmurs between the students around them. "How. Fucking. Dare. You." You finally say. "Go kiss that whore, Jess. She deserves some scumbag like you. Fucking prick" You retorted, storming through the crowd. Jack quickly followed behind you- but was held back by the grip on his shoulder, it was Ethan. "Don't." He shook his head.
Jack was confronted by someone who stood out of the crowd. He was angry. "You fucking asshole, Jack. Choosing to let ﹍﹍ down like that? You told me you loved her!" He yelled. The hallway went silent, once again. "Matt-" He was stopped by Matt stepping closer to him. "You told me you loved her. You didn't, you used her." He muttered. Everyone else watched intensely as Jack was looking down at the floor, avoiding the glare Matt was forced onto him. "I can't believe I've been friends with a fucking cunt" He snaps. Matt pushes by the crowd- leaving Jack voiceless and terrified. Oh- he made a poor decision. Jack fell back onto the walls of the lockers, the small crowd walked by after that, earning scowls at the man, and scoffs. He was dead meat to the school- but he did deserve it.
You found yourself already at the door of your apartment, unlocking it with your key. Once you walked in- you let your backpack down with a thud onto the wooden floor. Ethan turned back to you from the couch that was facing the TV. "﹍﹍, did you see him?" Ethan scrunched up his eyebrows. You didn't respond, draping yourself over the couch. Your eyes seem so soulless. "He stopped by earlier, looking for you." Ethan sighed, running his fingertips through your hair. You rested your leg on his lap, your silent sobs hidden by your face tucked into the cushion of the couch.
"It's going to be okay."
