Warriors: The Rise of Moonfur

Chapter 18

~one in a half moons later~

Moonfur lied on her side, stretching out her paws. She got up and yawned. A mouse was sitting at her feet, probably from Scourge. She leaned over to bite the mouse but was stopped by a barrier called her belly. She shrugged and lied down again. The kits were coming soon, she knew it. Moonfur took a bite of the mouse and purred as a figure came into view. It was Frogleap, coming in with a pigeon in her jaws. "Hello Moonfur, how's the prey running?" She asked, sitting across from her friend. Moonfur smiled and nodded slowly. "Not sure, I've been stuck in here for awhile." She purred with amusement. Frogleap purred with her. 
   
                   They chatted for a while until Moonfur gave out a loud yowl that echoed through the alleyway. Frogleap's eyes went wide as she realized what was happening. She rushed out of the den, tripping over her own feet. Moonfur didn't know why her friend ran. It was just a stomach cramp, right? Soon the strong pain in her gut increased. No... Am I... Kitting? The Cloudclan leader thought, her paws sheathed and unsheathed with anxiety. She sat down and breathed in and out and continued to do so. Soon Frogleap returned, not with one other cat but two. "Sc-Scourge?" She asked, worry welling up in her golden eyes. The dark figure nodded and came into view. It was Scourge! The she-cat slowly got up and rushed over to him, but soon tripped and fell. Scourge caught her by her scruff before she hit the floor. Moonfur slowly sat and went into the laying position. Scourge nuzzled her. "It's alright, My love. We'll have beautiful kits soon." He licked her head.              
       
        Moonfur shuddered and looked up at him worryingly. "Good luck, I know you can do it." She licked his nose and slowly nodded. Frogleap stood next to Leopardpool, who was also there. "Shall we get started?" The spotted cat mewed, dropping some herbs next to her. Moonfur nodded and seethed as the pain increased once more. "You're going to be alright, now breathe!" She mewed, urgently. Leopardpool's paws were on Moonfur's stomach. The pressure increased as the medicine cat applied strength. "Push Moonfur! You can do it!" Leopardpool mewed encouragingly. Moonfur shut her eyes tightly as she made her move.
