Chapter 2

A cat prowled around, looking for a place to birth. This cat was named Stonepelt. She became a kittypet, and was prowling around to find a comfortable place to birth. The she-cat was running out of time as the pain in her gut increased. She flinched as she ran into a twoleg bed. Stonepelt growled to herself and soon hissed as the pain in her gut was increased even more. Soon, she found a soft, quiet spot to lay down and birth. She prepared for her first litter. "There's no chervil here... I guess I'm on my own..." As soon as she said that, she started pushing.

I watched my two kits with both sadness and excitement. One, a tom, was dead. Though, she still named him Starkit. Her twolegs would bury him.                                           Starkit had a white pelt with spots all over, black ones. She touched his nose with sadness. "Goodbye Starkit. May Starclan keep you safe. She watched her other kit suckling happily. Stonepelt named her Moonkit. She had a dream the day before that Moonkit would rule all the clans one day. She would bring them together in peace. Moonkit had one black right paw and was white pelted. She had a black-tipped tail with matching black tipped ears. My mate would be proud. She purred as she went to sleep.

When she woke up, her twolegs were holding her and Moonkit. Stonepelt smiled and groomed the top of Moonkit's head. She soon realized that Moonkit had fallen asleep. Stonepelt smiled and continued to groom her. There was an itch in her collar, so she scratched it until it stopped. Stonepelt sighed. Will I ever see my mate again? She would ask herself over and over. Then she glanced at Moonkit. 'This is all I have left of him. I have to take care of her and teach her warrior things like hunting and combat.' She thought to herself. Stonepelt couldn't wait until she could become an apprentice.
