Moonpaw gulped. These eyes soon came out of the darkness. "Who are you? Go back home, kittypet! Or do you want to be a meal for Rosethorn?" The one with the ragged-brown fur spoke up. Then Moonpaw's gaze watched the golden-sandy colored one. The two she-cats stared into eachothers eyes. One seeking comfort and one full of aggressiveness. "I-I'm not a kittypet..." The golden furred cat held in her laughter. "Y-you? Not a kittypet? Hahahaha! You have humor, kit, but I'm not believing a word you are saying!" She laughed and narrowed her eyes. "Where exactly do you come from- Oh boss, I didn't see you there!" The sandy colored she-cat slightly flinched as her "boss" pushed passed her. "Well well well.... What do we have here? A Kittypet? What a shame..." The "boss" cat walked around Moonpaw, examining her from her nose to her tail. "Hmm... You seem too scrawny... Sand. Take care of her." The "boss" she-cat replied. "B-but Rosethorn! She's just a kit!" "Who cares? Take care of this pathetic clump of fur..." Sand shook her head. "No! I'm tired of following your rules! You know what? Do it yourself you... You... Fleabag!" Rosethorn let out a loud, dangerous sounding laugh. "You shan't have done that Sand. Now I'll take care of BOTH of you!"
The well-muscled brown tabby with darker brown stripes launched herself at Moonpaw.
The young black and white she-cat forgot all of her fighting moves for a minute as Rosethorn came at her in slow-motion. Everything sped up as soon as Rosethorn latched her jaws onto Moonpaw's front paw and threw her against the brick wall. Moonpaw screeched and tried to scramble away from the tabby, but tripping over her injured leg in process. The apprentice watched in horror as Rosethorn leaped onto her and pinned her to the concrete ground.
Moonpaw unsheathed her good paw and sliced Rosethorn's nose. The large she-cat yowled and shook her head in confusion.
Then she narrowed her eyes and smirked. "A fighter, aren't we?"
"A better one than you are! That's for sure!"
Rosethorn smirked again and laughed. She lifted her giant paw and unsheathed it. Her long claws glinted in the dim lighted alleyway.
"Say goodbye... Kittypet."
Her paw flashed over her eyes as a cat pounced onto Rosethorn and bit the back of her throat. Rosethorn snarled and flipped over, facing her attacker.
"Sand?!"
Sand snarled back at Rosethorn and fought paw-in-paw with her. Sand knocked her over the head and Rosethorn fell, weakening. She got up slowly and growled.
"You won't see the last of this, Kittypet. I may be banned from Shadowclan, but I still have their spirit!" Rosethorn then stared at her old comrade. "And you! Don't think you'll get off this easy!" Rosethorn snarled again and ran off into the twoleg-planted bushes. Sand sighed. "I'm leader now."
Moonpaw stared up at her savior. "What?" "I was the deputy." Moonpaw stared up at her wide-eyed.
"Woah... And thanks for... Saving me..."
"It's my honor."
Sand nodded at Moonpaw and flicked her tail, telling Moonpaw to follow. The black and white apprentice bounded next to her and smiled. "You can stay at my place if you want... Or do you have twolegs?" "No.. I ran away..." She admitted. Sand nodded slowly in understanding. "What's your name, kittypet?" Sand asked, staring at her with her green eyes. "I'm Moonpaw..." "Hmm... Nice name. Must of been a warrior cat like Rosethorn, right?" Moonpaw shook her head. "No... But my mother was." Sand smiled and padded Moonpaw's back with her tail. "Mine too." Moonpaw smiled back. "What's your clan called?" "Well, we don't really have a name, but you can chose it now that I'm leader. Ill name it after whatever you chose." Sand purred. "Hmm... How about..." Moonpaw looked at the sunrise overhead and the clouds hanging around it. "Cloudclan. Ill name it Cloudclan."
