15. The End of the Affair

A/N: This will be a long chapter due to flashbacks about them in the 20's.

Third person p.o.v.
Once the car stopped, Arabella immediately got out of it, Bucky following her. She had picked him up from the same woman who walked him. She didn't want him on the mountains. Klaus smirked as she left her car.

"Welcome back to Chicago, Stefan." Klaus says, getting out of the car.

Stefan got out a moment later and looked around confused as Klaus opened a door to a building.

"What are we doing here?" The Salvatores asked.

"I know how much you loved it here. Both of you." Klaus said, sneaking a glance at Arabella. She looked away, as this was the place where she ran from him.

Klaus turns to Stefan. "Bringing back memories of the good old ripper days."

"Blocked our most of them. A lot of blood. A lot of partying. The details are all a blur." Stefan says, looking at a truck that came towards them, parking.

Arabella hummed. "Yup. Mother would not approve."

Stefan smiles at her as Klaus spoke, eyeing the truck.. "Well, that is a crying shame. The details are what makes it legend."

Klaus smirked. "Word was the ripper day of Monterrey got lonely, so he escaped to the city for some comfort. It was prohibition. Everything was off limits then, which made everything so much fun."

Klaus leaned on a side of a building entrance as Stefan appeared from behind Klaus and Arabella.

"Chicago was magical. Do you remember them, love?" Klaus said turning to her with a sad smile.

Arabella looked away and reminded herself why she hated him, as this place was a constant reminder.

"How could I forget?" Arabella said bitterly, walking away from Klaus.

Stefan walked next to Klaus. "I take it this is the place where she dumped you? When she ran away 'cause you killed her friend and said you never loved her?"

Klaus refuses to look at Stefan, but Stefan could see. He could see the pain in Klaus' eyes, as well as love. The love he had for Arabella. Stefan hated that, but at the same time, what could he do?

Klaus sighs. "Come on." He tried to walk away but Stefan doesn't let him.

"Why am I still with you? We had our fun, your hybrids failed. I mean, don't you want to move on?"

"We're going to see my favorite witch." Klaus says, walking past him. "If anyone can help us with our hybrid problem, it's her."

Klaus enters the car they arrived in to see Arabella petting a sleeping Bucky on the seat. Arabella sees Klaus and puts a finger to her lips. Klaus nods and ushers Stefan to the car, which he reluctantly goes to.

Klaus, Arabella, Stefan, and Bucky enter Gloria's Bar. Arabella spins around inside while Bucky goes to explore the place. Klaus smiles.
