"You're not punching hard enough." Arabella advised as she watched Elena beat a punching bag.

"I'm trying!" Elena kicked the bag before tightening her hair in the higher ponytail.

Arabella took a sip of her blood bag. Alaric appeared from the corner of the room, walking towards Elena.

"You're gonna put a hole in that thing." Alaric walked to the bag and held it as Elena kept kicking it. "Wanna talk about it?"

"There's nothing to talk about."

"Uh-huh. Sure." Arabella lazily leans back on the couch.

Alaric nodded. "Yeah, what's got you all worked up?"

"I didn't really sleep last night." Elena grunts as she continuously kicked the bag.

Alaric lazily nodded. "Yeah, me neither. Probably has something to do with dying."

Arabella frowns. "You okay, Ric?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm fine." Alaric assured. "But I think the ring, however, is running low on batteries."

Elena nods. "Yeah, it's another reason why Jeremy has to get out of town. If those rings have a shelf life, he's not protected. Neither are you."

Elena stepped back, using all of her force to kick the bag back. Alaric groaned as he took the impact of the hit.

"Nice. Nice. You're getting stronger."

Elena took the workout gloves off her. "I'm just channeling frustration. I need coffee."

"Isn't compelling Jeremy taking away his free will?" Arabella asks. "It doesn't seem right."

"I can't leave him here to be run over by a hybrid." Elena argued.

"Fine, then can we at least go?" Arabella asks with a roll of her eyes, wanting to go see Caroline already.

"If you want to leave, you can go." Alaric pointed to the door before Arabella shook her head.

"Can't. I'm on Elena duty. It's my job to make sure she doesn't do anything stupid."

Elena sighs. "I don't need a babysitter."

Arabella laughs, raising an eyebrow at her. "Have you met you?"

Alaric's lip curled up a bit. "She does have a point."

"Also, it's Caroline's birthday." Arabella inputs. "We need to do something, since she already marked her birthday as my favorite day of the year when we met."

"It'll also be a good distraction for Bonnie. For all of us, actually." Elena adds.

Alaric steadied the moving punching bag as he spoke. "I'm sure Bonnie will have other things to think about today. Damon's compulsion must have worked. Jeremy was packing when I left the house. He was going on about his new school in Denver."
