"These images tell a story. To learn the history, you have to decipher these images." Alaric says with a sigh.

Alaric looked over at the various pictures they snapped from that hidden tunnel while Damon and Elena sparred. Damon pins Elena and takes a stake from her hand.

"Sloppy." He says as he hands her the stake, which she snatched.

"Shut up. I'm new at this."

"The ghost of Christmas past, Mason Lockwood, said that the cave would lead us to a weapon that could kill Klaus." Damon says as Elena kicks him.

"Yeah, but doesn't Mikael have a weapon?" Elena asks.

She swing the stake at him, but Damon blocks it. "Yes, which probably means the wall will lead us to Mikael, who we've found and lost already."

Elena tried moving the stake towards him but Damon was too strong. He spun her so she was up against his back and whispered in her ear, "Bang. You're dead."

Damon pretends to bite into her neck, but Elena shoves him away. Alaric ignores them and stares down intently at the pictures. "These images, at the very least, might tell us what that weapon is."

Elena walks over to the table Alaric was leaning over and sighs. "Then all we have to do is find out what they mean."

"Well, fine. Fine. If I'm being irritatingly optimistic like you two. How do you suppose we do that?" Damon asks, pointing the stake at them through his statement.

"Can't we ask Arabella?" Alaric asks.

Damon shook his head. "No way. I don't know what side she's on. She's keeping things from us about them. She knows more then she lets on. And she apparently is still close with the family and she still might have some unresolved feelings for Klaus, I.E. the guy we're trying to kill. Honestly, what does she see in that guy?"

Elena glared at him, remembering her vow to not judge Arabella when it came to him. "Don't judge her, Damon. She loved him for some reason, even if we can't see it."

"So, what do we do?" Alaric looks down at all the photos of the carvings and strange symbols, his curiosity winning over him.

"Well, if the story's about the Original Family living here, then we go straight to the source." Elena chimes in.

"Nope, no way." Damon snaps back instantly. "Rebekah will kill you without blinking."

"She won't." Elena insists. "Klaus needs me. Arabella said she was spending the day with her. She won't let her hurt me. And besides, you said she knows more then she's letting on, right? Rebekah and Arabella can tell me the story, just like she did when Elijah explained Klaus's curse to me."

Seeing both of their worried faces, she smiles reassuringly. "Don't worry. I'll be fine. You'll see."

Elena walks out of the loft as Damon stares after her. "Oh, that girl has a death wish."

Alaric nodded. "Let's hope she comes back with information and most importantly, alive."
