Toni
I put the gel on my stomach and held the wand in my hand. All the signs are there I'm just scared to find out. The ultrasound tech was on her lunch break and let me borrow the room for a few minutes.
My hands shook a little as I put the wand to my stomach. My eyes watered as I heard saw the little one. Such a tiny little thing.
"Dr. Edmonds- oh my God." My assistant Margo said as she came in.
"I know." I said staring at it.
"Are you excited?"
I sighed, "I'm damn near 40, I can't be having another kid right now."
"What? This is a good thing. You've been trying for a while."
"Yeah but we stopped."
She smiled, "That's usually when it happens."

I took the rest of the day off and went home. As soon as I opened the door Kaila rushed up the me.
"Did Dad tell you the news?" She asked bouncing with excitement.
"What news?" I asked.
"I'm spending my birthday weekend at grandma and grandpa's mansion. We're having dinner on the yacht and everything! I can't wait!" She squealed running to go call whoever.
I stormed into Kenny's home office, "Kenny, I didn't agree to Kaila spending her birthday with your parents."
"I didn't think I had to consult with you." He said with a shrug.
"Umm, you do when it concerns our daughter."
"Did you consult with me before you gave our son away? No, you didn't."
I scowled, "I understand you're mad right now but-"
"Tone, it's already set. There's no need to discuss it anymore. You can either come along and celebrate or you can stay here." He said refilling his glass of whiskey. I scoffed as he turned to me, "By the way, Kaila will be returning here alone. I need some space."
"Ken, we need to talk about this."
"Why don't you talk to whoever you're with when you're not at work?" He said. I frowned as he nodded, "Yeah, I've figured it out. Every Tuesday and Thursday at 2pm. Who is he Toni?"
"You think I'm cheating on you?" I asked getting angrier by the second.
"I don't know what to believe. I don't even know you anymore."
"I'm the same girl you've known since we were kids. I didn't mention Chance because I was trying to protect you-"
"You can't even say you're sorry."
"Because I'm not!" I snapped. He shook his head walking away from me.

"Josh, I need to see you." I said walking into his office.
"What's going on?" He asked.
I tried to form words and I couldn't, I couldn't do anything. Everything was closing in around me.
"I can't...I can't breathe." I said hyperventilating as tears streamed my face.
"Sit down." He said helping me to the couch, "Focus on something that makes you happy." He said. I closed my eyes think about Kaila. Finally I was able to breathe again. He smiled, "Good, there you go."
I sighed,"He's back and Ken hates me. Plus he thinks I'm cheating and now he's going to leave me and then he's taking Kaila-"
"Slow down. Who's back?" He asked as my mind traveled back.

"Come on sweetheart you can do this." One of the nurses said.
"AAAAHHH! God!" Toni screamed she needed her aunt or anyone for that matter. Instead she was alone giving birth in the basement of some old catholic school.
"Almost there." The doctor said.
"AAAAAHHH!!"
Suddenly the sound of a cry filled the room. The doctor cleaned her up as the nurses tended to the baby.
"You did it. It's over." The doctor said before leaving her. Toni looked trying at least catch a glimpse before he was sent away.
"Can I just hold him for a second please?" She finally asked. The nurses looked at each other.
One of them sighed, "Yeah. Just for a little while then his new family will be ready to take him." She said as the other handed the baby to Toni.
"Hi." She said staring at him. He looked like someone she really missed, "You look just like Kenny, it's crazy. I can't keep you, but I want you to have a good life so I'm going to give you to someone who will love you. I hope they give you everything you desire. Maybe one day we'll see each other again, but this is goodbye for now."
Suddenly the door opened and a tall brunette walked in, "Hi."
"Hey, umm...you're not what I expected." Toni said.
She chuckled, "He's beautiful. What's his name?"
She looked at him thinking about a character Kenny wrote in one of his stories. The guys sounded a lot like him but Kenny swore it wasn't.
"Chance. Chance Kenneth...whatever your last name is."
"Chance Kenneth Hollister. I love it. Thank you for this. We'll be sure to tell him all about you when he's older." She said handing Toni a check.
$250,000 from Edmonds Industries. That was it. She was going to college.

"Wow, I had no idea." Josh said.
She shook her head, "No one did."
"I think you should tell him you're in therapy."
"No, because then he'll want to know why and I'm not ready to reveal that yet."
"Well maybe it is time to tell him the truth." He suggested.
"I can't do that. It will ruin our lives." She said staring at her hands.
"He doesn't have to know everything right away if you don't want him to. Take it one step at a time. Whenever you're ready." He advised.
