Toni"Mom, what are you doing? We leave in like half an hour." Kaila asked coming into our bedroom.
I took her hand into mine, "I'm not going." I said.
"But it's my birthday weekend."
"I know, but we'll do something afterwards. I promise."
"No, we have to do it this weekend. We're always together for my birthday. Now it's ruined." She complained.
I sighed,"Kaila..."
"Forget it." She mumbled walking away.
"Hey, I'll make it up to you. Okay?" I said. She nodded dragging out of the door.
Kenny came from the closet with a suitcase, "That's everything. I'll send for the rest. Also, I'll have Kaila back by Monday." He said.
"Ken?" I said making him finally look at me. My eyes watered at how there was no emotion on his face. I sighed, "I'm sorry."
He said nothing as he walked out. I went downstairs wanting nothing more than to block the door and stop them all from leaving. Chance picked up Kaila's suitcase. Three of them have spent almost every day together since he came around. I've almost gotten use to seeing him.
He walked over to me, "Are you sure you're gonna stay? I can stay with you if-"
"No. You go, look after Kaila please." I told him.
He nodded, "Of course."
"Ken's mother is going to ask a lot of questions. Just don't let her get to you."
"Noted." He said. He smiled sympathetically, "See you Monday?"
"Yeah."

After everyone was settled in the car, we started driving to the dock. My parents' house was practically on an island. We had to take a ferry to get there.
"Are you and mom fighting? Be honest." Kaila asked out of the blue.
I sighed, "Yes. It has nothing to do with you, so don't worry about it. Just enjoy your birthday vacation."
"How can I do that without mom?"
"She has her reasons. I don't know what they are, but she has them."
Chance spoke up from the backseat, "It's because of me. I should've just stayed away-"
"No, I've never been more happy than now. I've got my son, my daughter, and...I'm cool with that." I told them making them go quiet. I don't really know where Tone and I's relationship is or where it's going.
2 hours later...
Grabbing our bags, we exited the ferry onto the dock in front of my family's house. A short walk later we reached the long driveway. I chuckled seeing Chance's shocked face as Kaila smiled for the first time in two hours.
