A/N: Unedited, but I will edit it sometime this weekend. Christmas is so close I can almost feel the mistletoe kisses I won't be getting. Vote, comment, and enjoy :)
Two weeks into the school year and I was ready for the school year to be over. Girls had already been getting asked to Homecoming. Emma got asked by Dan, big surprise there, and Rachael got asked by Will, making me want to vomit.
Austin has been taking turns with Emma driving me to and from school. On the days he took me home we sometimes would stop by the skate park. He even managed to convince me to get on his skateboard a couple more times. We had definitely been getting closer; we even had been texting each other quite often, and Emma seemed to think he was going to ask me to Homecoming.
Lost in my own thoughts I walked to French class by myself. Austin said he wasn’t coming to school today because he had something to do, and Emma and Dan were probably making out in a corner somewhere.
When Emma did finally make it to the French classroom with Dan, I couldn’t talk to her anyways because Madame strategically placed her on the other side of the room. Although we are not supposed to talk in class, I think Madame had realized Austin and I had been passing notes back and forth. Without anyone to talk to, I pulled out my Mrs. Dr. VanderTramp worksheet hoping to avoid having to talk to Will.
But of course I had no such luck. “Listen Anna there is something I want to tell you,” Will poked me in the arm with his pencil.
“I don’t want to hear it,” I huffed, turning to Madame, trying to block Will out of my life.
“Ranger la salle de classe,” Madame called out as the bell rang. After everyone had settled into their seats, Madame announced that “We will be having a special guest today before we start class.” Everyone whispered to each other their excitement, it isn’t every day we get to do something different in school, especially in French class.
Only what happened next was not what everyone was expecting, or at least, not what I was expecting. Austin walked into the classroom carrying an acoustic guitar that I didn’t know he had. What happened to him not coming to school today because he had something to do?
“Now I know Madame isn’t too happy that I’m not doing this in French,” Austin pointedly looked at Madame, “but there is something that I would like to ask a special someone.” He started strumming his guitar, and I automatically recognized the song to be “Love You like a Love Song” by Selena Gomez. But when he started to sing, I was really blown away. He had an amazing voice, even better than Dan, who thinks of himself as the future Beyonce.
After Austin finished singing and the class had finished clapping, Emma ran to the front of the class with her phone, and Daniel grabbed Austin’s guitar from him and handed Austin a bouquet of beautiful roses. He walked over to my desk and after getting a thumbs up from Emma, who was now recording with her phone, he asked “Anna Lillian Brown will you do me the honor of being my date to Homecoming?”.
Although I had been constantly telling Emma I didn’t want him to ask me to Homecoming, I had been secretly hoping he would, so I said “Yes of course.” I stood up to hug him as the class erupted with cheers. He then proceeded to hand me the roses and we took our seats next to each other, smiling like a couple of fools.
“Okay now that that is over it is time to learn.” We all groaned at Madame not wanting to go back to class, especially me after what just happened.

“Emma I like shopping as much as any other girl does, but we have been shopping for over four hours, and we haven’t even found a dress,” I gasped for air as I tried to keep up with Emma at our town’s mall. “Besides, we don’t even know the theme for the dance.”
“Do you think that matters,” she turned back to look at me, “just get a dress that will take his breath away.” “That’s easy for you to say, you know what color your boyfriend likes you in.” “Fine, just get something that makes you look sexy.”
Walking into the seventh store of the day, I headed over to look at the clearance section, considering we were in a fairly expensive store. Emma walked up to me holding a short purple dress that has pink glitter all over it. She had managed to find a dress in one of my favorite colors, all of the other purple dresses we had looked at had been too dark.
“This is your dress; I know it.” And before I knew what was happening, she was pushing me into the fitting rooms.
I changed into the dress after I had pushed Emma out of the fitting room and into the hallway. The dress was slightly above the knee and it had small slits cut out of the back, not appropriate for St. Francis Prep but definitely appropriate for me. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a mirror in the fitting room, so I had to go use the mirror in the hallway and let Emma see the dress on me.
“That’s the one,” Emma squealed as I made my way into the hallway. “I haven’t even seen what it looks like yet,” I laughed as I headed towards the mirror. I halted as I reached the mirror; the dress was absolutely breathtaking, and it fit me perfectly.
“Yeah, you’re right, this is the one.” I twirled around to look at myself some more in the mirror. “Yay, we found your dress.” She jumped up and down while clapping.
“Let me go change out of it, so we can check out. We still haven’t found your dress.” “Okay I’ll wait for you at the cash register.” As she turned around to go wait for me, I did one more turn in front of the mirror before going back into the fitting room to change.
