Bailey opened her eyes to see nothing but light

She closed her eyes back quickly, she heard a repeated beeping noise in her ears

She groaned as the pain in her head hit her

"Bailey?" She heard and her eyes furrowed she slowly opened her eyes and saw a blur of brown

She rubbed her eyes slowly and readjusted her eyes

"Mrs Byers?" She said and Joyce stood up and grabbed the girls hand "where am I?" She asked and Joyce sighed "you're at the hospital" Joyce said "what happened?" Bailey asked the woman "max said you tried fighting billy" Joyce said to the girl and bailey sighed "I'm so stupid" she said and Joyce shook her head "no, you're not bails, you were protecting them" Joyce said and bailey eyes watered "I could have died" she said "I know, but you're here right now and that's all that matters" Joyce said and bailey nodded "w-wheres hop?" Bailey asked and Joyce sighed

Her eyes started to water and bailey furrowed her eyebrows and her heart dropped

"He-" Joyce stopped talking as she closed her eyes "he's gone, isn't he?" Bailey asked and more tears dropped from her face and Joyce nodding

"No-he can't, I promised I'll come back home, and I was supposed to have movie night" bailey said and broke down even more

"Does el-k-know?" Bailey choked out "yes" Joyce said and bailey cried Joyce wrapped her arms around the girl "last night was a hard night" Joyce said as bailey still cried in her arms

"I'm moving pretty soon, I don't want to put all this weight on you, I just want you to know what's happening" she said and bailey nodded while hugging to woman back "and I was wondering if you wanted to move with me, el is and I know you have your decision" she said while bailey tried calming herself down

"I'll stay-if anything happens" bailey said "it's all over" Joyce said "we thought that last year, I want to protect the rest t-that stays here" bailey said and Joyce nodded "so you'll stay with Dustin?" She asked "Yea, I-I'm sorry" bailey said "no, there's definitely not any pressure on you sweetie, you're fine, so if you want to stay, you could" Joyce said and the girl nodded while wiping her wet face

A few minutes later a doctor walked in making bailey tense up, she never have been to a doctor, the closest thing to this was a worker at the lab

"Hi bailey, I'm Malai" the lady said "h-hi" bailey said and malai sat in the chair beside baileys bed

"So, I know you've been through a lot during yesterday, I have good news and bad news" malai said and bailey swallowed scared to hear the bad news

"I want to hear the bad news" bailey said and malai nodded "okay...starting off, you kind of broke your leg, so it was pulled out of place and it got worse for the hours you were walking on it, not only that but the stitches on your leg makes it a little hard to move due to the tightness" malai said as bailey grew calmer and safer with the girl

"Also you have a mild concussion, it's not bad, it'll take 2 to 3 weeks of healing-you hit your head pretty hard but it was luckily not a bad concussion" malai said and bailey nodded "now on to the good news is that you get to return home today, it's earlier than excepted since you got here last night and things weren't bad you get to return home" malai said with a smile and bailey fake smiled back

The girl couldn't have a real smile, she lost her dad, her bestfriend would be leaving soon along with her sister, she's very injured, things aren't getting better, but she was happy to return back to dustins

"So before you leave I'll give you this cream that you can apply to your neck, and make sure to put an ice pack on and around your neck to ease the pain" malai said and bailey nodded "thank you" bailey said "no problem" malai said while walking out and the door bursted open

"BAILEY!" The boys yelled as they entered the room and she smiled; a real smile now that some of her best friends were with her

"HI" she said with her raspy voice and she hugged Lucas then Dustin then Will

"Mike and max are still talking to
El, they'll be over in a minute" Dustin said and bailey nodded "so what'd I miss?" Bailey asked "we blew the mindflayer up with fireworks, the ones Lucas was showing us" Will said and her eyes widened "it was the coolest thing ever, I'm telling ya" Lucas said "I wish I was there for it" Dustin said "oh-also suzie helped us over the supercomm" lucas said and baileys eyes widened "suzie!? I missed everything" bailey widened and her smile dropped as she touched her neck in pain

"You Alright?" Will asked "Yea, my throat just hurts a lot" she said "then you don't really have to talk, we can just tell you the awesome things that happened" Dustin said making them laugh

"Oh yea, take it easy on max-billy died" Dustin added and bailey frowned, she knew billy didn't deserve to die, she knew he was possessed and wasn't in the right mind frame at the time

And she knew exactly how she felt

"Yea, I know how she feels" bailey said while looking down and the boys all looked at each other

They then all surrounded bailey and hugged her "I'm sorry" Lucas said "we're sorry" Lucas added and bailey tried her best to wrap her arms around her 3 best friends

"What did we miss?" They heard a voice and looked back to see max and mike

"Just a group hug, we already updated bails" Dustin said and the boys nodded "bailey, we talked to el, and she wants you to know that she loves you and she never meant to make you upset or anything" max said and bailey nodded "I know, it was my fault, I was just a jerk" bailey said and the boys all looked at each other "we'll come back in a minute" mike said and the girls nodded

"I heard what happened to hopper" max said while looking down and walking towards the girl while looking at her dirty shoes

The kids had been in the hospital since after killing the mindflayer

They had been waiting for el and bailey

El was of course ready first, Bailey just had a tad bit more damage

"And I heard what happened to billy" bailey said "I'm sorry" the girls said in unison

Max looked up at the girl and gave her a hug

"Are you going to leave me-to live with the Byers'?" Max asked as she started to get emotional again and they pulled away from the hug "no, I'm staying-if anything else happens, I got you all" she said and max nodded with a smile "I'm glad I met you bails" max said and bailey smiled "and I'm honored that I met you" bailey said

Max then called the boys back in and they all looked at mike "you 2 haven't said anything to each other yet" will said "Yea-" Mike was cut off "we'll leave" Dustin said and they all scurried out

"Hey" mike started and bailey giggled at the boys awkwardness "hey" she said "I'm sorry for what happened to you-and I'm sorry about Hopper" he said and bailey nodded "I'm fine, I'll recover-it might take a while but I'm positive I got this" she said and mike smiled at the girls positivity "how do you feel about leaving soon with the Byers?" Mike asked and bailey smiled

"I'm not going, I'm staying here" she said and Mike eyes widened "you're not going?" He asked in disbelief "no, I'll be the protection while el is gone, of course el is way cooler-but I'm down to protect you guys anytime, you guys are my family, and I'm willing to do anything for you guys" bailey spoke truthfully "Yea, of course-you almost died for el last night, el was crying more than ever, she thought you didn't make it-you we're out for 8 hours" mike said and baileys eyes widened "8 hours?!" She said in disbelief "yea, you got to the hospital at 2am, it's 10am now" mike said and she sighed "billy really injured me, I have a mild concussion-and a half broken leg" bailey said and mikes eyes widened "also a soar throat-I sound weird and it kind of hurts to talk" bailey explained and mike nodded "maybe you should not talk, I think that makes it worse" mike said and bailey nodded "Yea, I should" she said "hug?" Mike said wanting to grow close to the girl and not have this awkward relationship between each other the girl smiled and nodded

Mike pulled the girl into a hug and she hugged back

They pulled away and smiled "I have to get used to this already" Bailey said and the boy laughed
