I took my first steps towards my workplace. A chill engulfed my body, causing me to shudder from the sensation. What was this feeling? I wondered as I step through the door.
I received various greetings on the way to the elevator with smiles. I couldn't shake this feeling as if there were monsters nearby. Again, I felt this way was I going paranoid by what Ash had told me? I pressed the corresponding elevator number to my office.
I have to gain back control of the situation. The door slowly opened, and I walked to my desk with confidence. I am the boss here and I have to deal with what is right in front of me. Calm down, everything is fine, nothing can cross over into this world—I tested it before.
It wasn't long before I took my seat by the desk. That Susie came strolling in. There was something off about her. She usually carried herself in such a high fashion style and walked like a very arrogant woman. She seemed at the moment very reserved. I watched her take her seat before me with a smile on her lips. Where was the coffee that she usually brings? I thought, but didn't bother to ask.
"My apologies for being so late, I had something suddenly come up, but I am sure that the task for you yesterday was nothing complicated."
She placed the documents upon my desk. "It is no problem, Mr. Foster."
My eyebrow raised at the remark as I folded my arms.
"Would you like to go through the details now?" she asked calmly looking me over, that smile still remained on her face.
I sat up and picked one of the documents reading the name of the proposal. Its layout, what it would do and her general opinion on them from the stamp. Honestly, I couldn't tell which one was better or not. I prefer to go with her opinions or if I liked the sound of an idea. After all, that is what I paid her for.
"That reminds me." I placed the document in my hand down. My eyes moved from the desk to her. "How is that project I gave you on the Cassis and curbing his business?"
She looked at me with a shock expression at first. It was slight, but I noticed it immediately.
"You told me yesterday that you were on the verge of finishing it and that Robert was helping you with minor details. You assured me after two days. You couldn't have forgotten already?"
I glanced through the glass door, "Where is Robert anyway?"
"It's not that it has not been done. I just am having some trouble with the computer at the moment. Thinking that you might want it now, caught me a bit off guard, I didn't want to disappoint you. About Robert, I am not sure where he is, but I believe that he may be somewhere here in the building."
"There is something off about you Susie. I mean you're dressed so different your demeanour is also strange as well and you're not carrying that usual flavourful personality of yours. Are you okay? If something is wrong, you can talk to me at any time."
Her face looked perplexed before she responded.
"Mr. Foster..."
"There you go again, you never called me by last name, ever," I said, as my phone rang.
"Hello," I answered.
"Hello, Mr. Foster, this is Chris," the person on the line said, " I have been calling Zora and haven't been able to get through to her all day. Especially since today, we were supposed to meet. She never skips meeting me on these days, especially with any matter concerning her dad. I was wondering if you heard her recently or have been in contact with her?"
