Newt was right, he would get to talk to Thomas.
But his first interaction wasn't what Newt wanted. He wanted to walk up to Thomas (trying his hardest to hide his limp) and just begin talking.
But no.
It was Alby. Alby was talking to Thomas, stopped Newt, and forced them to indulge in a conversation. Thomas seemed okay. There was nothing off about him, there was nothing to worry about.
But there was Gally. He decided to make a conflict out of nothing. He claimed that after Gally knew him, saw him in the changing. Gally said Thomas was bad news.
But no one believed him.
Chuck began to look at Thomas as a role model, followed him everywhere sat down and ate dinner with him.
Chuck aspired to be like Thomas.
That night Newt couldn't sleep.
He found himself tossing around in his bed. He felt weird-different. Something big was going to happen.
The next day Newt woke up with barely enough sleep.
He watched Chuck and Thomas for a while. They seemed to have bonded already.
Then he talked to Alby while he waited for Minho to come back from the Maze.
Maybe Newt's feeling was wrong, maybe nothing big is going to happen.
But then the sirens went off.
The whole Glade clumped around the box, confusion in the air.
A greenie, a day after the last one.
The hatch opened and Newt jumped in. He stared at the body in disbelief.
This was the big thing.
This was the something he felt last night.
He looked up to address the Glade, "It's a girl."
