Thomas didn't know how to react. He just found out one of his best friends tried to kill himself. Newt was once a strong, friendly, brave. But now- now Newt was a whole new person.
Thomas could only imagine the pain Newt must be feeling. Thomas was going to go to the Slammer, comfort Newt, but he decided against it. He decided that Newt wanted to be alone, and thats what he did. Left him alone.
But what Thomas didn't know was that Newt needed him more than ever. He needed Thomas, he needed Thomas to tell him that it was okay. He needed to be told that he was not going to be seen than lesser. He needed a lot.
But when Thomas didn't show up at the Slammer, Newt saw this as abandonment.
That night Newt decided to go back into the maze....
And climb back up the bloody walls.
