I charged faster than  i can ever remember have toward her, yet i knew i wouldn't make it in time so i flung my sword at the beast praying it would meet its mark and save my bonded

I couldn't lose Leena. Not now

I watched with bated breath as my sword Pierced its neck moments before its claws connected with Leena

It fell hard, shaking the ground beneath our feet with his death

I reached Leena and snatched her up suffocatingly  as i inhaled her sweet scent and fought the panicked breaths i was struggling to take

Once i got myself under control. I stepped away from her and the ugly sneer on my face coupled with  the worried look on hers said it all

"I...Im.."

"WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!!" I roared at her; uncaring how harsh or loud i was

My fear of losing her. Of losing our young, made all rational thought flee from  my brain. She endangered our unborn because of her stubbornness, because of her desire to prove something i already knew.

Tears gathered on her lashes but in true Leena fashion; she wouldn't allow them to spill

"I was only trying to help"

"I TOLD YOU I DID  NOT NEED YOUR HELP!! WHAT YOU DID COULD NOT ONLY HAVE COST YOU YOUR LIFE, BUT OUR UNBORN! HOW COULD YOU BE SO RECKLESS!"

Her tears dried then and the fierce  Leena i always knew and loved came back full force

"WELL IF YOU HAD GIVEN US SOMETHING TO DO EXCEPT LAY AROUND-"

"ENOUGH!" 

"I HAVE ALREADY EXPLAINED TO YOU THERE IS NO TIME FOR SUCH THINGS. WE NEED TO EAT AND REST THEN GET MOVING. LESSONS AND TEACHING AND HELPING CAN COME WHEN WE DO NOT HAVE A TARGET ON OUR BACKS!!!"

She hung her head as did Kiera, for once even she had nothing to say about her actions, both knowing i was right.

"I'm sorry Xui.  Your right it was stupid."   I hugged her again, pulling her into a desperate kiss. Needing the brief  reinsurance 

Once I calmed myself, I told Slix to retrieve our food and i hustled them both back to the  camp

The meal that night  was strained as we all were lost in deep thought about everything. 

What we had to do next.  What had just transpired and the uncertainty ahead

Upon entering the poor district; It  was a true eye opener for me. I recalled it from my youth,  the forest that my grandfather  spoke of; It laid just beyond it. We had visited it many times and it was never this desolate, this revolting. the air was filled with The  scent of body waste and rotting unseen things and despair

Mothers begged in the streets clutching their younglings and men who were no doubt thieves and scoundrels; ran rampant.

I was shocked, disgusted but mostly disappointed. How could my brother allow it to get this bad. Our people had always prospered;  even the poor districts. No they didn't have the luxuries  of  the nobles, but they had more than enough, No mother with youngling ever went hungry. No citizen ever went homeless or hungry; begging in the streets. This was not the LoQua he remembered nor the one he wanted to associate himself with as a ruler

A disgusted sound erupted from Silx as we rode through the desert streets. I mirrored it. my brother was blatantly shown as the clear tyrant everyone depicted him as since i had arrived

We stopped at a local building that read Greqkana( Hotel/Inn)

"My P-" Slix started, then looked around quickly before he amended his words

"Xui. your hair"  he stated

Immediately i understood, I brought the hood of my tunic up to cover my signature hair

Most LoQuans had dark wine, almost black  colored hair like Lokkar or Slix and others had a violet hue but only the royal family boasted a bright lavender color. I knew I would instantly be identified sporting  it; bringing the royal guard straight to us, especially if people were as desperate here  as they seemed

As we entered the establishment; a hush fell over the room. I already felt trepidation knowing Leena and  Kiera would be a spectacle. We would have to keep extreme vigilance over them. these vagabonds would do anything for a coin 

Leena's belly had already began to swell, indicating just what i suspected. LoQuan/Human births were not as lengthy in gestation, I was determined to finish this feud before my youngling was born

I stalked toward the owner of the Establishment leaving the females with Slix

"I need a room and a meal for 4"  i demanded

The female smiled flirtatiously, taking in my form. i fought the urge to scowl  at her salacious gaze

"Right away sir."  she took my payment and slid a room key to me unsuccessfully seductive as i walked briskly  back to the table Slix picked out. situated in the far back away from prying eyes

Although many still watched us. That couldn't be helped, we did  have two alien females with us

Just before our meal was delivered,  i left Slix with the girls to go to our assigned rooms and  unload our belongings. I rejoined them at the table moments after the food was delivered

There was no Frezqa that Leena loved to eat and i worried she would not eat much of what they had provided

But she did thankfully eat heartily. Kiera commented animatedly on the texture of our bread; citing its spongy and  moist 

Unlike human bread that was dry and soft

Me and Slix ordered Eqtera( alcoholic drink) not as sharp with burning taste of human liquor but with the strong after affects, as we ate and talked and reminisced on our time on the planet we once remembered; before it all went to hell

The girls ate and talked too, amongst themselves lively. it was the first time in days, perhaps weeks we all felt so relaxed and rejuvenated

Unfortunately it didn't last long

It never did

Slix surveyed the room quickly as we both did periodically, whilst ewe drank. Even slightly inebriated we were trained to stay vigilant always, especially us; me being royal and me always a target. Slix's job was to protect my targeted royal ass

He tensed with caused me to still as well

"Xui.. There is a man behind you at the door" He explained

"Yes?..."

"He has stolen your emblem......"
