A Phone Call
╚════ ≪ °❈° ≫ ════╝
With a pen and paper in hand,
while finishing a task at hand,
my phone rang throughout the study.
A call from my buddy. What I heard, at first, was unexpected:
sobbing; proof of you being disoriented.
Then you told me about your place,
now full of mishap and disgrace. Now I'm quietly listening to you,
not knowing what to do.
As you kept narrating your decline,
I could only hold back my tears on the other line. Then you whispered, "Surprising, is it not?"
I won't lie, this isn't what I thought.
But how can you look fine
when caught in between those lines?I couldn't find the right words,
always pausing to not sound slurred,
while I try to not let my tears out.
Damn, I hate how this turned out.I hate that it had to be a call by chance.
I hate that there had to be distance.
Because I could only speak words,
but my mind is in turmoil for those.Words were hard to note.
Words were choking at my throat.
But then there's this doubt:
"Can words truly let my feelings out?"Then you told me you're feeling crazy,
and that your future's hazy,
Then you mentioned your plans to escape
this mess the world has made. That enough made me speechless,
peering into the endless darkness;
the chaos in my head still remains,
But one thing's for certain:I can't accept the way
you make it a chance that one day,
you'd suddenly disappear without a trace,
not even letting us know your case.I just can't imagine you gone;
you can't be replaced by anyone.
Because even in a short period of time,
you've made a big impact in my life. And right after all that's said,
I finally got it through my head:
the words I was meant to say.
The words I had wanted to convey.I mustered up the courage to speak,
not caring if my tears began to leak.
There, I finally made my choice:
With the sadness perceptible in my voice,I said, "Thanks for calling me."
