Your Light

╚════ ≪ °❈° ≫ ════╝

With the bright smiles you give,
I forget all my problems.
It is the light I always receive
throughout the mayhem.

Sometimes I'd wonder,
"Will you ever be tired of smiling?"
But I'd always answer,
"You simply keep on shining."

Your grin made it look like you soared,
but slowly, reality stole your brilliance.
It impaled you with its sword,
destroying your wings in an instance.

And for the first time,
you dimly lit your light.
The same entrancing smile,
but in a different sense of bright.

You hid your tears
behind an act we all believed in.
How come I didn't notice your gnawing fears
as you still held up your chin?

Were you struggling on your own the whole time?
Fighting to keep your negative thoughts at bay?
You don't have to follow this society's paradigm
of how we should not display our dismay.

Aren't you tired of it?
Tired of hiding the truth behind fake smiles?
Tell me, can't you see this changed you a bit?
You don't have to rely on meaningless lies.

You may have lost your wings to reality,
Your scars visible from your vulnerabilities.
You may have forgotten your identity
from the majority of the animosities.

It may seem like an endless anguish,
but the pain won't last forever.
And that's a promise,
for we will seek your light together.
