Masquerade
╚ ════ ≪ °❈° ≫ ════╝
Fluorescent lights around the place.
A quartet just right aside.
The venue overflowing with grace.
I take a step inside. They wore their suits and dresses,
some more colorful than the others,
revealing the qualities one possesses,
as if impressing one another. And they have their masks,
some more grandiose than others,
only to truly hide the past
they don't want others to discover. Those little details tell the uniqueness
and personality one holds,
yet nothing about one's secrets
that are yet to unfold. As I talk with a friend,
I look around the room.
There, I see you on the other end,
full of golden bloom.Lights then dim down
and music starts to play.
All those in tuxedos and gowns
begin to intertwine their hands and sway.I start walking to you,
bedazzled by your exquisite yet simple style.
But as I make my way through,
a man in azure asks for a dance with a smile. So I twirl around my first partner,
stealing a glance at your golden mask.
As I place my hand on his shoulder,
I quietly wait for my turn to ask.Then I dance along with a quite a sight;
a lass in a red dress.
Another, a boy in black and white,
a classy combination nonetheless.Another spin and I meet a girl in sky blue,
I don't even dare to look back.
The next wore a captivating hue;
a lady in pink bejeweled with black.I get comfortable enough
to put my mask down in front of them,
only to get pitiful looks for having it rough.
So I wear it again, ashamed of my emblem. Then comes the moment I've waited for.
Your golden flair
is something I adore.
No one could even compare. With each step,
I could tell you're unique too.
With each step,
I could really jive with you.Slowly giving in,
I put my mask down.
Scars all over my skin,
afraid you would frown.I start to tear up
when I see your smile and not a sneer.
I couldn't make my tears stop,
realizing there was no pity; it was sincere.I wait for the moment,
the moment you'd let yours down too.
But you seem despondent,
saying that you'd rather not to.Refusing to reveal one's flaws
is something I understood.
So I don't ask what is your cause,
simply continuing to move as you would. When the music stops reaching our ears,
the event ends with the chime of a bell.
With the room full of applause and cheers,
I bid you my farewell.Though when the day comes to pass,
I hope I'll witness your beauty unveil
behind that golden mask,
where lies your wondrous tale.≫ ──── ≪•◦ ❈ ◦•≫ ──── ≪
