(Third Person) Charles's POV
He was worried about Jake. Well, he always was. But, this morning he had a reason, because he seemed to be mad about something but wouldn't say why.
And Charles thought he knew what was it that was making Jake act like that, and it actually was a reason he liked.
Charles told Rosa to meet him in the briefing room, where they were now talking.
"What do you want, Boyle?" asked Rosa.
"I think I know why Jake is mad," he said, excited.
Rosa lifted her chin. "Why?"
"Because he likes Amy, and she went on a date with somebody else!" said Charles, so happy the words came out very fast of his mouth.
"Really?" said Rosa, faking astonishment. "Oh my god! That was SO not obvious!"
"Ok, I know it's evident," sighed Charles, "but, doesn't it make you happy?-- I mean, the part that he likes Amy, not the part that he's mad."
"I don't care," said Rosa. "I'm not enjoying seeing him like that, though. Also, they're both 10% more bearable when they're together."
"Duh, that's why we have to help him. They're meant for each other!"
Rosa rolled her eyes.
"No, Boyle, we have to let him figure it out himself. Besides," Rosa turned Charles's head so he could see outside, where Jake and Amy were laughing in their desks, "he seems fine now, doesn't he?"
Jake's POV
He was sitting on his desk again when he realized he couldn't just be acting like a jerk with Amy because she had gone on a date with someone else. She looked bored and sad, judging by her expression, which made Jake feel bad because it could be his fault she was like that.
Jake was about to talk to her, but she did first. It wasn't the most friendly tone, you know.
"Peralta, do you have any pen? Mine ran out of ink," said Amy, a bit coldly.
"Does this count?" asked Jake with a grin, lifting an ink tube.
Amy shook her head and rolled her eyes, but she also chuckled. That made Jake feel good again, as if he had never known she had gone on a date.
"Nevermind, I found my back-up," said Amy.
"Oh, of course you have back-ups," Jake clicked his tongue, as Amy smiled with amusement. He sighed. He had to ask about the date, not because he wanted to hurt himself, but because he was afraid he would look rude not caring about her. And he did care. A lot. "So, Santigo... how was your night? Had fun talking about the color beige?"
"Ha-ha, very funny," said Amy, although she was still smirking. "It was actually very good, and we are both into the color beige, so we had no problem."
"Can't say if that was a brag," replied Jake. At that point, he had totally forgotten he was a bit jealous about Teddy. But it was a gross emotion, he wouldn't act like a jerk anymore.
"It wasn't," laughed Amy, "just keeping you updated. Although..." she snorted, as Jake raised his eyebrows at her drastic change of expression, "I don't know... maybe he's a bit too... calmed? I don't know, it's just that sometimes I need more fun, someone that makes me laugh."
Oh, you just didn't describe me, Jake thought.
"But I'm pretty sure he's the one," said Amy, beaming again. Jake now regretted talking about the date. "We're going on a date again, tonight."
Jake nodded, a bit grossed out about himself because he was actually jealous. But, how wasn't he going to be? She was perfect, and intelligent and pretty, and-- COME ON PERALTA, STOP IT!
"Jake?"
"Huh?" he realized Amy had been trying to get his attention, but he was deep inside his head, hurting himself more and more.
"What's wrong?" said Amy.
"Nothing," he lied, not even caring that it had obviously been a lie and Amy hadn't bought it. "I have to go to the bathroom."
"Do you feel ok? It looks like you're about to pass out---"
Before Amy could finish talking, Jake was already in the men's bathroom. He needed to calm down, but he could also vomit right now. Why was he jealous even? Amy had the right to go out with anyone she wanted.
Amy had the right to go out with anyone she wanted...
Amy had the right to go out with anyone she wanted...
Charles's POV
"Still sure he's fine now?" mouthed Charles across his desk.
"I thought he was!" mouthed Rosa in response.
"Well, he was not, as I told you!"
"Stop mouthing!"
"We have to help him!"
"We cannot intervene!"
"Let's talk to Jake"
Rosa just lowered her head as if she hadn't seen the last thing Charles said, and he hurried to the bathroom, hissing 'Incredible you can't help a friend' when passing next to Rosa's desk, to which she hissed back 'He has to figure it out himself!'
Charles entered the men's bathroom, but Jake was nowhere to be seen.
"Jake?" he asked.
"What's going on Boyle?" he heard Jake's broken voice.
"Everything ok?"
"Yeah, no girl I'm obsessed with is going on a date with somebody else tonight, nothing specific."
"Oh, so you admit you like her?" said Charles, trying to hide his excitement without success.
"I don't need to admit it. Isn't too obvious already?"
"Really? I was the last one to find out instead of just suspect it?" Charles disliked himself. "Ugh, how haven't you guys killed me already?"
Jake laughed weakily.
"Rosa has tried multiple times," he replied, then sighed. "But, about the Amy thing... I just-- can you leave me alone?"
Although he didn't agree, he had to say yes.
"Sure, buddy," he said. He would never call Jake 'buddy', but right now he felt like Jake needed protection or something.
He was going to do what he could to make him happy.
Also, he felt like Peraltiago was vital for him.
He just had to wait...
