She's gone. As soon as I wake up, I go to check on Autumn, but she is gone. Maybe she woke up and went to get some food or something. I find Max sitting against a tree, looking for something in the dirt.
"Hey Max," I say, "I found my sister last night but she's not there anymore. Would you happen to know where she went?"
Max frowns, "Uh, your sister?"
"Oh right, I guess I forgot to tell you. The girl I was looking for yesterday, she's my sister. And I found her last night lying under that bush over there," I point to where I found her last night. "But she's not there so I was just wondering if you've seen her."
Max's frown deepens, "Um, that girl is your sister?"
"So you've seen her then?"
"No, I uh, she's been lying there for a while now. I thought she was dead so.." his voice trails off.
"So you're saying that this girl has been lying around here dead for days. Yesterday, I came here and described what my sister looked like and yet you still couldn't make the connection."
"Hey," Max argues, "I never really got to see her face properly!"
I roll my eyes. This kid is hiding something and I know it.
"But hey, I think I know where she went,"
I narrow my eyes, "How would you know that?"
That strange expression is back on his face, "Uh, well, I happen to know a particular area in the woods that has a lot of delicious food. She Probably went searching for food. Come on, I could show you."
I have no intentions of following him but I don't exactly have a choice either if I want to find Autumn.
So once again, I find myself following Max through the many trees and bushes. Finally, after what feels like forever, we end up at this clearing. There are barely any trees and the ground is smoother.
"Yeah, so where's this food you were talking about earlier?" I ask, raising my eyebrows because like I mentioned, there are few trees and bushes and so far, I have spotted no animals.
"Just hang on a second will you?" Max sounds impatient. I roll my eyes and continue to follow him. I begin to see trees again and it seems to get darker. It is also windier. In fact, it is extremely windy. So windy I feel as if I could just fly away.
How cool would it be if I could fly, I think and then imediately slap myslef afterwards for thinking such a stupid thought at a time like this.
I begin to feel presure on my back. Suddenly, a huge shove from the back sends me sailing forwards. It seems like forever until I finally hit the ground. And when I do, the whole world is dark.
