Germany
I paced the empty house, worry seemed to increase as the seconds ticked by. "He should be home by now." I mumbled, continuing to pace around the house, going in circles around the living room and kitchen, slowing down as the front door came into view. "Who am I kidding, he should've been home hours ago!" I whine, stopping my pacing for a moment. I looked over at the stove timer to see it was ten o'clock.
I pulled out a dining chair, sitting down in it and resting my head in my hands. "What if something happened?" I questioned, worry dripping off every word. "What if that happened again?"
*****************
I walked side by side with Germany as we made our way to the first meeting of the United Nations, created almost right after World War II ended. Germany seemed nervous, seeming tense as we made our way closer and closer to the building. "You seem nervous." I pointed out, I know, an obvious observation but I have to start a conversation somehow.
"What will everyone think?" He questioned, looking down at his feet.
"Everyone will see a brand new country, reborn." I answer with a small smile, looking up at him. However, my smile dropped down to a frown as he still didn't make eye contact with me.
"I'm a monster." He mumbled.
"No your father was the monster, not you." I retorted firmly, but he didn't seem to believe it as he looked away, a shadow falling over his eyes.
"The apple doesn't fall far from the tree." I whirled around to see a civilian glaring specifically at Germany. "He will eventually end up like both his father and his grandparent." They continued, not taking their eyes off of Germany's back.
I stopped walking, turning fully around, my red eyes sparking in anger, "How do you know that!? What proof do you have!"
"(Y/N) don't worry about it." Germany said softly, grabbing onto my arm.
"It's in his legacy!" The person countered, raising their voice as well.
I yanked my arm out of Germany's grip, "Oh yea! Says who! At the moment his legacy is to rebuild his country which his father destroyed! He had to live with that b@$^ard all his life!" I stomped up to the person, "At the moment the only monster I see is you who is so simple minded that you can't see the difference between Germany and that nazi!" I spat, glaring right into the person's eyes who at the moment looked terrified. "Germany is kind, loving, handsome and very hard working! He is nothing like that cold heartless man!" The person seemed to gulp, shrinking under my gaze.
I hear a sigh behind me, a hand taking my own and gently pulling me away from the terrified civilian. "C'mon, I think they get the picture." Germany said softly, although I can hear the joy in his voice.
I turn to look at him, seeing a small smile on his face, "Kind, loving, and handsome huh?" Germany teased, a light blush dusting his cheeks.
I could feel my cheeks warm up, "U-uh did I say that? I don't remember saying that I mean um ....." I felt his hand intertwined with mine. "Thank you darling." He said with a bright smile.
I returned the smile, "Of course Germany."
***********************************
I smiled softly at the memory, the worry in my head slipping away. Nah, nothing like that could happen again. It's the twenty-first century, people now know who Germany is and don't see him as someone like his ... other family members.
I heard something similar to a door opening, I jumped out of my chair, running through the kitchen but I didn't get far as my foot got caught on one of the chair legs. Knocking down onto the hard floor, "Ow." I grumbled, sitting up from the floor. I hear paws pad across the floor, the sound of claws clicking against the tile floor. I look over to see a german shepherd with big brown eyes.
