It was Monday morning, meaning Amina would once again be left in the house alone for a good couple of hours.
She woke up at 6:00am, she got up from the couch stealthily to not disrupt Henry who was in a peaceful slumber. A soft sigh escaped her lips at the sight of the restless soul that was finally resting in front of her.
As creepy as it sounded she would love to watch her husband while he was sleeping. His chocolate strands of wavy hair gently falling on his pale skin, the contrast made his features that much more prominent. His cheeks were slightly red and that was able to take off a few years of stress. His soft, plump and pink lips were slightly parted letting soft and tranquil snores flow out like music. It was rythmic and calculated.
The idea of preparing him breakfast before came to mind and with that she broke out of her reverie and immediately went to the kitchen. She decided to keep it simple and make some omelettes with mushrooms, grated cheese and chopped bell peppers as the stuffing.
Whilst she was making breakfast she heard the sound of a groan coming from the direction of the living room. A few seconds later a very grumpy looking Henry dragged himself to the kitchen.
"You know I was about to ask you why you left me all alone on the couch with noone to cuddle and keep me warm, but the aroma coming from the kitchen is just so delightful." He carefully walked over to Amina who was now flipping the omelettes and wrapped his firm arms around her waist. He peppered her neck with kisses that resulted in a smile slowly creeping on Amina's features.
"Good morning to you too." She turned around and gave him a small peck on his lip.
"Mmhh." He hummed at her gesture.
"Why don't you go get ready? By the time you come back breakfast will be served huh?"
"Excuse me, is this your way of chasing me out of the kitchen?" He said in a teasing manner.
"Maybe" she replied with a sly smirk resting on her lips.
Henry quickly tapped her behind before running out of the kitchen while laughing. Amina couldn't help but also laugh at his playfulness.
By the time Henry had come back down with his suit and tie breakfast was already set out on the table for him.
"You look very handsome today." She shamelessly complimented him.
"Thanks babe. I have an important trial today." Henry and Amina didn't really talk about his work for obvious reasons. He was a criminal defense lawyer and besides his cases being gruesome he had also signed non-disclosure agreements with his clients meaning that he was not allowed to comprise their confidentiality.
Amina didn't mind though. As they had many other things to talk to each other about. It wasn't as if she was not interested in his career it was just that she was able to respect his loyalty to clients.
"Good luck." She softly spoke.
"Thanks, love." He replied back.
The rest of their breakfast was spent in a comfortable silence with the occassional small talks.
When Henry left the house Amina decided to clean up the house and call Aaliyah.
The phone rang three times before she heard her friend's voice. "Hey Amina." Aaliyah was quick to greet her friend that she had been awfully missing.
"Hey girl, it has been a minute and there is a lot to catch up on."
Amina was on the phone with Aaliyah for atleast two hours now. The two friends were having light hearted conversations and were just catching up on each other's lives. Aaliyah knew very little of the details of Amina's miscarriage but she sensed that it was an uncomfortable topic and so she never really brought it up.
