Amina got into their shared bedroom and locked the door. Her movements were rushed and inelegant but in that moment she could care less. With tears pouring down her eyes and silent sobs she rushed to her side of the closet and hastily took out some clothes. She knew she had to get away from her failing marriage.
She took out a suitcase and started stuffing in a bunch of clothes and other necessaties.
Henry was on the other side of the door banging hard and screaming out for Amina. "Amina please, let me explain." He pleaded. It was bringing him physical pain knowing that he was actually going to lose his wife for good now.
Amina just ignored him and got on with her packing. She didn't know where she would be going to or how. She had very little money to her name but she had a little more dignity to her name. She could not repeat the same mistakes she made last time. She felt embarrassed. No one had caused her to face ignominious defeat like Henry did.
She knew just how stupid it was of her to take him back after cheating. What stung the most was that Bailey was giving him the one thing she couldn't give him. It made her feel less of a woman and a good wife. She envied Bailey for carrying Henry's child, she was going to lose the man that she loved.
With tears in her eyes Amina took her suitcase and handbag and unlocked the door. The sight in front of her made her feel weak. Henry was on his knees with his hands in his face. He was too busy crying to notice her presence. She couldn't look at him any longer because she knew she was weak enough to not leave him again.
Her attempt to move forward resulted in Henry looking up at her with blood shot eyes. "Amina what is the luggage for?" He asked shakily and cautiously so as to not upset her any further.
" I am leaving for a while. Don't bother contacting me or asking where I am going. I can't stay here any longer. All I am asking for is time." Amina didn't know if what she was saying was the truth but she was trying hard to convince Henry that there is no way that she wouldn't come back, that way he wouldn't put up much of a fight.
Henry was left with no choice. Although he didn't want her to leave he knew that he could not hold her back against her own will. "Amina but it is not safe to leave right now. It is at night and you don't have a form of transport." All he could do at that point was worry for her safety.
"I will just catch the bus. Now could you please excuse me." She was really trying to keep calm. She has fuelling with rage at that point but fighting with Henry was pointless. It would only prolong her time in this miserable household she so badly needed to escape for her sanity.
Henry knew better than to speak up at this point. He was worried for Amina but he knew that she was keeping composure and that annoying her would have not done anything to help his case. All he could do was to cling on her saying that she would only be gone for a while.
With that he followed Amina downstairs . By the time they reached the door Amina quickly turned around to Henry and with tears threatening to fall down her eyes she said to him with pain lace in her voice " Congratulations Henry. This is what you always wanted and now you have it."
She left him no time to respond as she got out of the house and quickly began walking towards the bus station. She was not worried for her safety because her neighbourhood had such a low crime rate and it was quiet. Her mind was clouded with the thoughts of Henry having a child that wasn't hers. It hurt so deeply but she knew that she had put this upon herself. She was so weak and obsequious. She had always let things happen and as much as she wanted to blame Henry she knew damn well that she made it easy for him.
