If you fall behind, run faster. Never give up, never surrender, and rise up against to the odds. ~Jesse Jackson

Recap:

"Cal what do we do, we killed someone! My fingerprints are on that remote, they'll see I get the chair!" I sobbed.

"Relax, it's not murder, it's manslaughter." Calum breathed. "They might go easy on you."

"What's the difference!?"

"Manslaughter is an accident!" Calum said. "And I will make sure neither of us get caught because we're going to run for it."

"R-Run?" I mumbled.

Luke's POV

"C'mon, Luke we need to go to your house and get you some stuff." Calum said.

"Wait, Cal they don't know it's us yet. Wouldn't it be suspicious if we ran away just as they started investigation?" I asked.

"Luke, I'm telling you right now, they will know it's us. And the pranksters are the first target." Calum said. "We could use a head start. Now go to your house and pack up, then come back here. Say you're sleeping over at my house. I don't care."

"Okay." I nodded.

"And don't talk to anyone." Calum snarled.

"Me? Talking to strangers?" I scoffed. I never talked to anyone until about a few weeks after I met them. I was too shy.

I ran to my house, opened the door and up the stairs. I grabbed a black duffle bag and a filled it up with clothes and much needed items. We lived pretty close to the equator so it was warm most of the year, but could reach the thirties. I got a backpack and piled it with foods. I ran upstairs and slipped on my leather jacket before grabbing my guitar case with everything I would need. Then I snuck in my mother's room. She was sleeping after a long days work, but I grabbed her wallet and took out a considerable amount of money.

I ran out the door and back to Calum's house where he looked me up and down. "Why are you bringing your guitar?"

"Case I need it. We could use them for tips." I smiled.

"Sure, sure." Calum sighed. "I'll get mine then." Calum ran up the stairs and grabbed his bass before we headed out the door.

"Where are we going?" I asked. I didn't feel like walking if there was no destination.

"Look, while you were gone some detective came to the door. I didn't answer and since they didn't see my mum's car. I'm sure they left." Calum said.

"Calum, m-maybe we should just turn ourselves in." I mumbled.

"No Luke I'm not taking the risk." Calum said. "Let's go, we can catch the bus to the next city over and find a small dinner or something to eat at."

"You think that they won't have photos of us everywhere?" I asked.

"No because they'll probably think this is part of a bigger plot, they'll want us to think we got away." Calum sighed. "C'mon Luke, the bus will be here in five minutes."

I nodded and followed Calum to the bus stop. Hoping no one saw us to say anything, because that would give us away.

The bust pulled up and we quickly piled inside. Calum said a few words to the bus driver and had me follow him to the very back of the bus where I stared out the window.

And I broke down in silent tears.

"It's okay Luke." Calum wrapped an arm around my shoulder. "Think, it could be worse. At least we've got each other." That was true, if I had be stuck with anyone I was glad it's Calum. Because he would know what to do, he always knew just what to do.

We rode that bus until the sun reached the horizon, and eventually passed, revealing bright stars and a full moon. The bus was in the middle of no wheres at this point. Only desert around us and the only light came from the front of the bus.

"Luke, maybe you should get some sleep. I'll wake you when it's time to get off, yeah?" Calum gave a small smile and I shook my head, watching the smile fade. "Why not?"

"I-I-I can't sleep." I shook my head again. "Calum, did you, did you see his body?"

"I tried not to look." Calum said with a sigh.

"I saw him, I just stared at that damned man." I sighed. "Oh his poor family." We lived in a small town, so it was no surprise for me to know that the principal had a family. Two little girls, a beautiful wife. His mother was still alive too. I feared for her.

"Luke, you need to try not to think like that." Calum said quietly. "It'll be okay, in the very end. Everything will work out."

I nodded my head slowly and leaned it down on Calum as I curled into him. He gently rubbed my back and I tried to do what he said and fall asleep, but it just seemed so impossible because my thoughts wouldn't stop.

"Cal," I whispered.

"Yeah Luke?"

"I can't sleep, my mind won't shut up." I mumbled.

"Okay, you don't have to sleep then. I'll keep you company." Calum said and poked my head. "Stop that brain of yours." So I listened to Calum as he jumped from topic to topic. Rambling about this and that. And it made me forget completely that we were wanted men. We committed manslaughter, murder, whatever it may be. We did it.

What was even worse was the fact that I didn't understand why the bomb blew up in flames like that. It was suppose to just release a stinky gas, a gas that wasn't even flammable. It was just suppose to make it smell.

The science didn't make sense, I knew I planned out every piece of everything, and that this shouldn't have happened. But it did, and there had to be a reason. There had to be a reason that bomb went awry. And I needed to know why.

Eventually while leaning on Calum I felt my eyes grow heavier with his words until I eventually gave in all together, hoping that when I wake up that this might just be a dream.

I can wish, can't I?

AUTHOR'S NOTIFICATION

So that was the first chapter :)

I hope you liked it cause I like you!

Lol that didn't help, now did it.

It might seem really slow but that's how books start, I'm not going to jump to the end at the beginning.

Even though some books actually do that.

Okay enough of me rambling.
