Being in a ship is being in a jail, with the chance of being drowned. ~Samuel Johnson

Luke's POV

They dressed me in a suit for the trial. It was a gray monkey suit and I felt like a child as they put it on me. The gray jacket's sleeves were too short and the pants were the same way. At this point however I didn't really have a choice and I didn't want to aggrivate anyone. At least I wasn't being forced to wear one of those ugly orange jumpsuits.

I was sitting at a dark red wooden table, several of the lawyers folder's were laying across the glossy wood. The court room was actually pretty cold, but I did just spend a lot of time in a desert. Otherwise everything about it was just..Fancy.

My eyes wandered over to a group of people known as the jury and they all gave me disgusting glares. I turned and looked behind me and received the same kind of glares until my eyes met Michael's. A sad look laying on his features.

Calum began to rub my back to gain my attention, so I put my head down. Wondering what would happen if I made it out of this or if I didn't make it out of this. Wondering what would happen to Calum, to Michael, Ashton, or even my mother.

"Mr. Hemmings!" The judge snapped at me and my head shot up to see everyone around me standing. "You should be standing right now."

"S-Sorry.." I said quietly.

"C'mere son." He said and I took small steps towards him until I reached the stand. "Is there an issue? A reason why you aren't paying attention?"

"I guess, your honor," I began. "When you're at a life or death situation, I guess your mind runs a little wild."

The judge took a deep breath and nodded. "Take a seat, and make sure to pay attention."

"Yes, your honor." I said and returned to my seat. They made us take an oath to tell the truth. With that the trial would begin.

"Calum I am so nervous, I'm going to throw up." I whimpered.

"Seriously?" Calum went wide eyed and I nodded my head. Calum raised his hand straight up and the judge gave a confused look.

"Luke is going to throw up." Calum said quickly and the judge went wide eyed.

"Someone take him out." The judge said and I felt someone wrap their hand around my arm and pull me out of the room. My vision was blurry and I was stumbling all over the place. But I managed to make it to a toilet as I let it all out. All of the nasty prison food.

I felt a hand on my back, rubbing it gently as I continued to throw up and then leaned back on my feet. Wiping my mouth with toilet paper and the awful taste in my mouth and I didn't care that I began to sob in front of a stranger.

But this stranger wasn't one of these at all.

"M-Mikey?" I whimpered when I looked up at the man.

"Hi love." Michael gave a small smile as he continued to rub my back. "You feeling better now?"

I gave a quick nod as Michael reached out and and flushed the toilet.

"I would get you a drink but I don't think I could leave you alone. There's some in the court room though." Michael said. I nodded my head. "Luke I know you're mad at me but, I am going to go ge you out this, no matter what I do. I will get you out of this. I swear to you this." I looked up at Michael and he leaned down and pecked my lips. "That's all you get because you taste like throw up."

"I know." I sighed.

"Luke I am so sorry for everything that happened and you found out the way you did. But I will not leave you in the dark right now. You have to know that I actually do care about you." Michael said as he ran a hand over my flat hair. "I'm here for you."

I nodded my head and Michael helped me off the floor and put a hand on my back as he guided me back to the courtroom where everyone was staring intensely at me.

"Are you alright, Mr. Hemmings?" The judge said. I nodded. "Use your words."

"Y-Yes your honor." I said.

"Now if you feel queasy again just let us know and you can leave the room." The judge said and we turned back to the case. We didn't get to prove our case first so I had to listen to the man up front drone on and screw me over. Well, for opening statements that was.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury," The man in a suit began. "These two teens have been known to pull outlandish pranks on the citizens of this dear town. All the evidence has lead to the fact that they, Luke Hemmings and Calum Hood, created the contraption, planted it, and detonated. Scorching this man. Now some may say that it was not on purpose. That they didn't actually try and kill the principal. But that prank was intended to harm the principal so couldn't you say that is this murder and not manslaughter?"

"Defense, your opening statement." The judge said.

Our lawyer, I couldn't remember the young woman's name, began to speak. "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury. Just look at these boys. I mean, they're kind of pathetic children. Wouldn't you agree? Why, they're not even adults yet! I do not think that these boys would have the mindset to think of such a plan, or even execute one. I mean, you saw for yourself, the nerves behind these boys. There is no way that they cold have done this crime and not felt guilty. So think, are these really the people you are after?" She nodded and walked back to the table.

And I felt good until the man started took back to the front of the room. Just as he was about to speak he looked to the judge who told him to wait.

"Ladies and gentlemen, a rather..Tricky  situation has presented itself. I must address this. Court will continue next week." He said.

"Great now we have to wait even longer to find out when we die." I scoffed and immediatly slammed a hand over my mouth as the judge gave me a warning look but left the room anyways.
