Erica P.O.V

A feeling of unease clouded me as soon as I woke up. Today is our 'big day'. Today I and Elizabeth will be telling Xavier about Sapphire's pregnancy. I know some of you may be wondering why we need to tell him that he was going to become a father. We shouldn't add to his sorrow. Well, how would you feel if you were to become a parent and no one ever told you? I know it'll hurt him badly, but he needs to know. Even Sapphire wanted to tell him about the pregnancy, but she wasn't able to.

I got up, folded my quilt and went for a shower. I decided to look a bit formal today, so once dressed I made my way straight to the office. I kept Sapphire's diary in my purse, which I brought home last night. My cab stopped right in front of the office. Thanking the driver, I got out and began thinking about how we would approach Xavier with this. I know Liz would be with me but I still need to prepare.

How will I tell him?

'Xavier. Look Sapphire was pregnant when she died. Oh, how do I know? Well, you see she had a diary which I read. You know the one you gave to her as a gift?'

Nope, not working.

'Xavier Sapphire wanted to tell you something and guess what I know it!'

Definitely not this way.

'Xavier, I have a surprise! Well, it's a bad surprise. Sapphire was pregnant!'

God, I'm such a fuck up. I was doomed. How are you supposed to approach somebody with news like this? Maybe if I just gave him her diary and told him to read it, it would make it easier for all of us. No, it's best to tell him so that we know he has been told.

Realizing I was still outside the building, I walked towards the revolving glass doors and got into the lobby only to stop dead in my tracks. There he was. He looked like a mess! He wasn't smiling but instead he looked like he was in pain. He was going to the lift with a frown on his face, he didn't notice me and went straight ahead. I thanked God with every prayer I could muster. I walked straight to Liz who was working on her computer.

''Hey Liz,'' I greeted her with a small smile on my face. She looked up at me and grinned widely. Was I the only one who knew what was going to happen today?

''Hey Eri-veri!''

'How many times do I have to tell you not to call me that'' I scolded her.

''Yeah but who cares '' She winked and waved her hands dismissing my protest.

''So?'' I trailed off

''So...'' She mimicked me.

''Oh come on! You know what I mean.''

''Oh, now do I?'' She smirked. I don't know how can she act so happy today? Yesterday she was crying her eyes out.

''Liz,'' I warned with a serious tone.

''Okay okay!'' She threw her hands up in surrender. '' Let's go.'' She answered getting up. We both walked towards the lifts, I trailed behind her trying to muster up every last bit of courage I could find. But it wasn't working, I was literally shaking like a leaf. Liz looked composed like she has everything planned out! What is her deal today? I couldn't shake the feeling that something bad was going to happen. I felt like Liz was planning something, the question was, what was that plan?
