Kabanata 14

I've been sitting inside this room for almost an hour now. They're all up on debate about something that concerns Twal's behavior, and even how my eye color changed a while back, kahit hindi nila sabihin ay ramdam ko na kasama ito sa diskusyon nila.

I slightly massage my temples when I felt an ache on both sides of my head. Every time that The Officials would raise their voice, a sudden pang in my head will then force me to keep my head up.  Kating-kati na ako makauwi, a deep slumber would be good at this point of time. Nanay would always leave a cooked meal for me that I'll reheat once famished, kaya naman hindi na ako nag aalala ng kakainin. 

I don't know how their discussion ended kaya naman nang makalabas na ang lahat ay tumayo na ako, I fixed my crumpled  school fitting uniform skirt bago ang blouse na nagusot na dahil sa kakagalaw ko sa upuan. 

Tanging si Travis, na nakaupo pa 'rin sa pinakadulo ng long table, at ako nalamang ang naiwan sa silid, hindi ko na siya nilingon pa at dahan-dahang naglakad na papunta sa pinto. Ngunit nang makalingon na ako ay naroon na kaagad si Travis sa gilid ko, my jaw dropped for how the scene have changed in front of my eyes. 

Everything is wrong here. Everything.

I scoffed, "My mind and body is too exhausted to even put up a fight with you right now, kaya naman if you could just please lead the way para maka-uwi na ako ngayon." I looked at him with tired eyes.

His eyes are somewhat confusing, it would go from a whole expression of emotions to a vague and cold stare one. And when he looked at me he said, "I would love to argue with you still, but you're way too spent to even defy my instincts, and that's boring. With you not being able to contradict my knowledge, that only meant I won in a not so fair play," He even had the guts to wink at me.

"Come on, let's get you home." Then, he got a hold of my hand in his. 

I don't even know how he knew where my house is at, I didn't even noticed that he's already got the keys at one of the guard house where Nanay dropped it off. I feel like my head would break in to half the whole entire time kaya naman pagka uwi na pagkauwi ay nagpalit kaagad ako ng pantulog at basta nalamang dumapa sa higaan ko, with the thoughts of happenings, I still managed to drift in a deep slumber. 

Pagkagising ko kinaumagahan ay alas dose na ng tanghali, akala ko nga'y may pasok kaya ganon nalamang ang psasalamat ko nang malamang Sabado pala.

I spent the whole day inside my room thinking about the strange things that's been happening around me lately. Sa sobrang determinado ko na malaman kung bakit ganon ay talagang ginugol ko ang oras ko sa cellphone at laptop upang malaman kung bakit o paano nangyayari ang mga 'yon.

And so suddenly, my phone rang, kamuntikan ko pa na maibato dahil sa gulat. It was a phone call from one of my cousin- that is known to me.

"Althea!" She greeted, even though it's been two years since we last saw each other, we never grew apart.

"Hey, Ness! Kumusta kayo diyan?"

We chatted for a while before we dived in to the matter, she's been meaning to tell me about a particular gift that Lola has left behind.

"But, Thea, I don't think Tita Jojo will like it. To tell you the truth... she's been blocking us from reaching you, kaya timing lang dahil nasabi saamin ni Tito Kit na may lakad sila ngayon." Agad naman nangunot ang noo ko sa sinabi niya.

Dahil ang sabi sa akin ni Nanay ay kaya hindi makatawag manlang ang nga tiya at pinsan ay dahil may sama ito ng loob saamin.

I cleared my throat before adjusting in my seat,"What do you mean, Kurtness? Nanay told me about their argument with Tita Len an-"
