[ insignificant spoiler for the trials of apollo ]
okay, so let me preface this with the fact that i haven't read anything past the hidden oracle of toa (please don't kill me ahh), so i'm just making this trash up. i read about how the demeter cabin was destroyed and that they were all staying in the hermes cabin, and... come on, rick! you couldn't just throw in a little tratie while you're at it? how obvious can it be that there needs to be some cheesy "one bed left" trope?
anyway, sorry for any inaccuracies, but i HAD to write this.

"Are you serious?"
Katie Gardner had only been informed to come to camp as soon as possible and was just now getting filled in about the recent happenings. What with Nero doing whatever the heck he'd been doing and the camp being in utter disarray, Katie hadn't been able to process much of anything in the past couple of hours.
And this... this took the cake.
"Would I kid about something like this?" Billie Ng threw her hands in the air. "It's gone, just like that. We'll have to spend months rebuilding after everything's settled."
Katie's head spun. Although Miranda was officially the head counselor for the season, she felt obligated to help out when she heard the news. And, clearly, Miranda wouldn't have been able to handle something this big on her own.
The Demeter cabin being destroyed was kind of a catastrophic event.
"What's going to happen to us?" Katie grimaced as the thought crossed her mind - they didn't have anywhere to stay. "Where's everyone now?"
Billie sent her an apologetic smile. "Miranda's sent them down to the Big House to make sure nobody got hurt. And Chiron's already thought of a solution for sleeping, but... you're not gonna like it."
She crossed her arms. "What?"
"Well, there's a cabin that's the established home for sojourners and travelers..." Billie hinted, but she'd already picked up on it.
"No."
"That's the only option we have!" Billie took my hands in hers, pleading. "Besides, Travis is still on campus as far as I know. He won't even be here!"
"We are not staying in the Hermes cabin."
Even if that was true - Travis being away at college - there was no way she'd be staying in his cabin. Katie had been entirely too emotionally involved with his absence and didn't plan on making matters worse by sleeping in his father's cabin.
Before Billie could reply, Meg appeared at her side. "Billie, Miranda wants us to meet up so we can get settled in time for curfew."
Katie felt bad for her newly-claimed sibling, but she couldn't help the glare she sent in the direction of Cabin 11. "I'm not doing this."
"Why not?" Meg questioned. "It's the only logical way."
"There's nothing logical about this."
As they walked to where Miranda and Connor stood in front of what once was the Demeter cabin, Katie fretted about what would happen. Staying in the same cabin as literally every troublemaker at camp was not a good idea.
"Katie," Miranda nearly sobbed.
Without further words exchanged, the two half-sisters held each other and stood in each other's arms for a silent moment. They'd shared so many memories in that cabin, and now it lay in shambles. The others respectfully waited for Katie and Miranda to comfort each other and wordlessly remember.
