The unwanted power

Chapter Four

I wake up screaming! My heart feeling like it's about to break from pumping so fast. That didn't just happen did it. Why did that feel so real?! I check my arms to make sure that they aren't actually on fire. Thank goodness they are not. That dream felt so real! I actually felt like all of that was really happening. My arms feel really hot but other then that they are fine!

My right arm looks the same as usual. My left arm is the same to, although It does seem like the scars- I have from being burned by the fire years ago- are more visible then usual. It's probably just my imagination though.

My dad, and brother come running in.
"Lily? What happened? Why were you screaming? Are you ok?" My dad says walking over and giving me a hug. "I'm ok dad, just had a bad dream." My voice is working! I can talk again! I'm not sure what made it stop working. Im just glad its working  again.

My dad stops hugging me. "Are you sure it was just a dream? You screamed pretty loud, and you sounded like you were in a lot of pain. You sure your ok? What were you dreaming about?"

Not wanting to tell him what I had been dreaming about because I am not quite sure myself I say: "I guess it was a dream about me getting injured." I say with a laugh trying to lighten the mood. I also really want them to leave so that I can take a minute to breath and try and figure out what I had dreamed about.

My dad gives me a look, obviously not ready to let it go "Lily, if that ever happens again you are not going to be able to just shrug it off like this. But since you seem fine now I'm going to let it go. It might of been your fever acting up again. You are not going to get out of bed for a while, I want you to go back to sleep. No more screaming ok."

"Ok dad, I'll try to go back to sleep." I say laying back down and pulling my blanket above my head. He heads out of the room to go get me some medicine. I start to close my eyes hoping that I can get sleep without having any bad dreams. When my brother starts to talking to me.

"Do you want Bailey swleep with you tonight" Adain asks "That would be awesome I say." He leaves and comes back a minute later with my dog bailey. He is a 7 year old chocolate lab husky mix. Who I've had since I was eight. I got him for my eighth birthday.

Bailey jumps up on my bed and lays down. "Thanks Adain, You should head back to bed ok. I think I'm going to go back to sleep as well." I say starting  to lay down. Adain leaves for a few minutes and then he comes back holding his pillow and blanket.

"Can I slweep with you tonight? Just so that if you get scared I can hwelp keep you safe? I promise I won't bug you." He says as he just stands in my doorway looking like he will die if I don't say yes. "Of course you can Adain! Come on up." I say. He climbs up into my bed and gives me a big hug.

"I love you Lily." He says as he lays down. Before long I start hearing him snore. "I don't think I'll be able to get to sleep, I'm worried that I'll have another dream like that and I don't want to have any more nightmares." I say to my self. My dad comes in and gives me medicine and a kiss on the forehead before turning off the light.

Sitting there I try to think about what I had dreamed about, but it turns out that Adain's snores are contagious. Slowly but surely I fall asleep. My mind to tired to come up with anymore crazy dreams.
